"Happy Valentines Day," basa nung babaeng nurse na nakatayo sa tabi ko. There's a huge bulletin board at the hospital lobby where there's a Happy Valentines Day greeting at dahil LED screen naman 'yon, nawawala rin kapag pinindot mo 'yon dahil lalabas ang directory. "Grabe, sana may magbigay sa akin ng chocolate!" I heard her giggle.
Hindi pa naman Valentines. Sa makalawa pa.
"Ang gwapo nung head ng general surgery," bulungan pa nila. "Ako na lang kaya mag first move? Tagal ni Doc!" they giggled.
I don't know but from the moment I arrived at the hospital, it seems like it was a love center for me. The places are decorated with reds and pinks and heart cutouts. The creative so far was an cutout of Eros with his bow and arrow stick on to it.
"By your facial expressions, you're still disgusted with the thought of Valentines Day," I heard Malia's familiar voice who stood next to me.
"Nandyan ka pala," sabi ko na lang. Ngayon na lang kami nagkita dahil sa ibang department kami nakaduty.
"We always stop by everytime there's a dazzling decorations at the lobby," sabi niya.
Hindi naman na bago sa amin yung ganitong mga decorations. Kulang na lang mag decorate ang ospital tuwing sasapit ang national holiday. Nagsasayang lang sila ng pera tapos tatanggalin lang rin nila!
Napailing na lang ako.
"I have to go na. May rounds pa ako," paalam ko.
"Oh sige na. Ako rin meron rounds," Malia smiled and we both parted our ways as we both made our way to our designated departments.
Valentine's Day came at sinadya kong ma late ng 30 minutes. Pagdating ko sa ospital ay kabi-kabila ang mga delivery guy na nagpapadala ng parcel para sa mga jowa nila. May ibang sinurpresa pa nila dito.
Muntik na akong mapangiwi, but that would be rude.
"Good morning, Doctora!" bungad ng mga resident ko sa akin. Nakakumpol silang lahat sa harap ko at may mga dala pa silang chocolates at mga roses, though they're artificial, but they're scented.
"Hala, salamat," I awkwardly said as I received their presents from their waiting hands. "Nag abala pa kayo. Mamaya na yung chocolates niyo, duty first."
I heard some of them said yes before going off to work. I shook my head and smiled. Napakamasunurin talaga. Luckily, I've got extra paper bag to put all the chocolates and roses.
I headed to the locker room to wear my coat for my morning rounds. From the moment I opened it, a huge bouquet of roses surprised me. What the hell?! Kanino galing to?
I took the bouquet and there's an envelope stuck in between.
Happy Valentines day, beautiful.

It wasn't just a card, it's a picture of me and Sage on the sunset during our Amanpulo trip, where he kissed my cheek.
After realizing whose penmanship it was as well as from the person who gave this, a smile instantly appeared on my face that send bolts to my chest, as my heart starts to beat erratically and instantly melt the ice in me.
He's like some highschool idiot. My highschool idiot.
"Oh, Dra. Bermudez, nakita niyo na pala 'yan," nakangiting sabi ng isa sa mga doctor ng general surgery.
"Uh, have you seen who put this?" I asked.
"Ah, yung nurse po," sagot nito. "May crush ata sa'yo, Doc."
I almost laughed at the doctor's answer. Seriously, nurse?! Anong ginawa nito ni Sage at hindi man lang siya napansin ng doctor na 'to? Mukha bang nurse si Sage?
