"Grabe, Doctora, we didn't got that chance to talk," sabi ko. I'm so glad that Dra. Hidalgo and Dr. Hernandez were finally back to the hospital. Paano, after I left, they went back to the US.

We both went straight to my office to continue our conversation.

"Ako din, hija," she laughed.

"Are you staying here for good?" I asked.

She nodded. "Yes. Ikaw?"

I smiled. "My life's now in Switzerland and I'd like to stay there for good. Tahimik na ako doon and I'd like to keep it that way."

She nodded. "Anyway, how did you managed to go back here. Let me guess? Through your thesis?"

Natawa ako. "Nabasa mo rin pala, Doc."

"Of course," aniya. "You did really well to the point that this hospital was now chasing you. Nga pala, why you were in Switzerland?"

I smiled and looked down. "Uh, I was pregnant."

She sit up straight and looked at me seriously.

I'm not afraid to tell Dra. Hidalgo about that part. After all, I found a motherly figure to her. For sure, she won't judge me. Naging supportive naman siya sa akin for the past year that we became colleagues.

"And… Sage's the father," dugtong ko.

"Does he know?" she asked.

I shook my head. "No, Doctora."

"Bakit?" she asked.

"Everything was a mess that time. I found out that my mother's death was manipulated, the scandal… that's just too much," paliwanag ko. "Ni hindi ko nga ho kayo maharap, Doc dahil sa sobrang kahihiyan."

"You found your mother's real death certificate?"

"Yes," I nodded. "Then I overheard Sage and his father having a conversation about it."

"Did Sage explained or his father?"

"Sage did. Alam niya pero wala atang balak sabihin sa akin. I'm not sure with his father because I haven't met him…"

"About your child… I know that you know that you can't hide her forever…"

I went silent. Yes, I know that I can't hide my child for too long. Sooner, malalaman niya rin. Pero paano?

"I know, Doc," sabi ko. "I'm just… scared. What if hindi niya magustuhan yung bata? Or how about, let's say na nagustuhan niya, pero what if ilayo sa akin yung bata? I can't afford to lose my daughter…"

"Because Sage's the heir of the hospital, is that it? Na dahil yung anak mo ang susunod na tagapagmana ng hospital?" diretsahan niyang sabi. "Your daughter is Harold's first grandchild."

I frowned. Wala pang anak si Sage at Irina?

"Your daughter might be the next successor unless…"

I tilted my head.

"She'll take up Medicine," she said. "So technically, she's the heir presumptive."

"Sage is the youngest between two siblings and unfortunately, the eldest didn't took Medicine because of the inheritance of their mother's company so the eldest has to manage it. Since Sage took Medicine, he's set to inherit the hospital."

Wow, may kapatid si Sage?!

Honestly, I'm scared to the fact of Sage disliking my daughter than taking my daughter away. Both are scary, but I'm scared for my daughter. Mamaya ay hindi niya kayanin ang rejection na ayaw sa kanya ng tatay niya. I couldn't let her have the same fate as mine.
