Epilogue Part 2

I was busy reading an email that the head of American Association of Surgeons just sent me, which they're going to the Philippines to organize the conference. And since I'm from Manila, I'm going to be there also.

It's been three years since the last time I saw Manila. And here I am... still looking for her.

"Sorry, hijo, wala siya dito," sagot sa akin nung isang trabahador sa mansyon nila. Mansyon nila ang una kong pinuntahan paglapag ng eroplano ko. I have been doing this for three years, and I still don't have any news. "Matagal na silang wala at baka hindi na rin umuwi."

I nodded. "Okay."

As I was driving back to Manila, I received a call from Xian.

"Hey, bro, nakauwi na kami ni Sab. Where are you? Let's have dinner at our place?" pag-aaya niya. We have been together from the moment I arrived to America.

"I'll try to swing by," sagot ko na lang bago magmaneho.

The next day was the conference. I greeted a lot of surgeons coming from different countries. Kasama ko sila Sab at Xian, since they're both surgeons. Xian's at the General Surgery, while Sab is in Obstetrics-Gynecology.

"I heard we have a guest of honor," bulong ni Sab sa akin.

I frowned. "Who?"

"Rinig ko lang," she shrugged. "For sure, she's really good that she's our guest of honor today."

Naupo na lang kami hanggang sa nagsimula na yung programa. After the conference, everyone was flocking towards me. Xian and Sab already went away to socialize with other people.

"Professor Soriano," an Austrian doctor approached me. "I've read your thesis. It was really good."

I shook his hand firmly. "Thank you."

"Anyway, we have a guest of honor today," sabi nito. "I can see that everyone's flocking at her."

Her. So it's a woman.

"I heard that hospitals are going after her. They want her to work for their hospital for 2-3 months. That's a really good thing to do. This is just once in a blue moon opportunity. It will lead for a good publicity to the hospital she chooses."

Kumunot ang noo ko. Maybe... I can persuade her to work in St. Mary Magdalene.

"I'd like to meet her today," sabi ko. "Maybe after this."

I'm so curious.

"Professor Soriano," Dr. Wolfgart approached me. "She's here."

I looked at him, frowning a little bit.

"The doctor that I've been talking about!" he gushed. "Imagine, she flew all the way from here? She's the author of the thesis I asked you to read."

Oh, he did mention to me about that thesis, but I still haven't got any time to read it. I've been busy with the hospital since we're investigating the billion losses then at the same time, busy investing to different companies.

"Come on, I'd like you meet her," sabi niya saka ako sumunod. We reached the flock of people but when we get there, it's only a few doctors that I have met before.

"Where's Dr. Bermudez?" Dr. Wolfgart asked. Napalingon ako agad sa kanya. She was here. Addison was here!

"Doctor, she has to leave due to an emergency," sabi ni Dr. Delacroix. "She has her plane back to Switzerland."

Switzerland. You were there all this time.

"Excuse me," I told them as they let me. I try to look around and tried to see if she's still here. Although, I can feel na malabo ko na siyang maabutan, pero susubukan ko.
