"Can we talk?" Irina asked as I quickly stood up, but she keeps on blocking my way.
"We have nothing to talk about, Dra. Suarez," I formally said. "Excuse me."
"Addison, just a few minutes, please?" she asked which made me stop before sighing, but I remained my straight face.
"We peacefully coexisted in this hospital while I was working here. I'd like to keep it that way," I told her.
I frowned upon seeing it.
"I found it in my mom's bag. She… recorded your conversation," sabi niya. "Sa restroom ata."
"Why are you giving this to me?" tanong ko.
"You can do whatever you want to do with it, just… talk to me."
Nakatitig lang ako sa kanya. The next thing I knew is I found myself in the helipad with her as the cold gust of wind blew on us. I waited for the words that comes out of her mouth.
"Is it true?" she asked. "About… what I've heard?"
"You heard what you've heard," sabi ko. "Your father attempted to make amends with me as if nothing happened. Alam ko na yung nangyari and to my mother's behalf, I'd like to apologize."
"So, uh… m-magkapatid pala tayo," aniya.
"Don't worry, you can have your family for all I care. I have no reason to make amends with any of you, your father, and most especially, your mother," sabi ko. "Don't acknowledge me as your half-sister because I don't acknowledge you as my sister and your father as my father, anyway. I just want some peace. The three of you already made my life a living hell."
"Why still wondering?"
She gulped at me. "Sigurado ka ba?"
"There's a recording and the real death certificate with me.
"She said to me that she did it intentionally. "I'm sure you've listened to the recorder…"
"Ipapakulong mo ba si Mommy?" she asked.
The statute of limitations has already ended.
"Sana nga ay kaya ko pa. I just asked for an apology, you know?" sabi ko.
Nakatitig lang siya sa akin. Bakas sa mukha niya ang halo-halong emosyon.
"You know, I used to admire you," sabi ko. "Kasi ang daming nagmamahal sa'yo. You've got a family, a mother and father. I envy that. I was never after material things. I needed and longed for a parent…"
"I had a rough childhood because I don't have parents. I was bullied for that," sabi ko. "Honestly, I want your mother to suffer because of what she did. Matagal ko ng alam ang tungkol doon. Naisip ko baka nagkamali lang siya. I was asking myself why? Bakit niya nagawa 'yon?
"I know that your father cheated with my mother. But does she have to kill her?" I asked. "My mother was clueless that she became a mistress."
