Chapter 41

I ran as fast as I could I felt my heartbeat doubling, as if I had more than 2 cups of coffee. Oh my goodness!

I quickly got myself an elevator as I made my way back to the nurses station. Buti na lang, agad kong nakita si Alice at Gelo, yung dalawang residents na laging sumasama sa akin sa rounds.

"Ready for rounds?" I asked while I couldn't take my eyes off to the charts.

One of the nurses approached me. She's the nurse that was with us earlier at the female rape patient.

"Doc, okay lang po ba sa inyo kung hanggang dito kayo mamaya?" tanong nito. "Hinahanap kasi kayo nung pasyente, Doc."

I nodded. "I'll be there later, okay? I'll finish my last rounds for tonight. Did the gynecology already checked on her?"

"Wala pa, Doc, eh," sagot nito. "Pero dumating na ho yung pulis."

I nodded. "Good. Still, keep an eye on her. The patient was still traumatized, as of now. She might want to have some female company."

I went with Gelo and Alice as we started our rounds. They were taking notes as I ordered new doses of medicines to administer. After the rounds, nagbilin ulit ako ng ilang mga gagawin sa residents bago ko puntahan yung babae.

"Good evening, Doc," bati ng mga nurse na nakasalubong ko. I gave them a smile and nod a bit. I reached the hall, kung saan sa dulong-dulo ang ward. I saw the nurses and doctors sitting while looking after the patient.

"Dumating na yung Gyne?" I asked.

"Yes. It was Dra. Valencia who tested her and the patient's results are with her," sabi ng isang resident.

Tumango ako saka lumapit sa pinto. I looked at the guy in scrub suits.

"There's a nurse?" I asked.

"Opo, kukuhanan ata ng dugo," sabi nung doctor.

"You're not sure?" tanong ko sa kanya. I peeked through the glass and I saw the suspicious nurse, strangling the patient.

That's the perpetrator!

I harshly slide open the door, making him shocked at mas lalo pa niyang sinakal ang babae.

"Call the police!" I shouted.

As he panics, he let go the patient as he ran towards me. In his attempt to push me down, naunahan ko siya saka ko hinatak ang braso niya at pinilipit ito. I heard a crashing sound. I just dislocated his arm and he truly deserved it.

"Go to the patient, now!" I ordered as my voice thunders. I twisted the man's arm as I flipped him over thru judo flip, letting his body hit the floor.

"Restraint him," sabi ko at agad na dinaluhan siya ng dalawang doctor. Tumakbo ako sa pasyente at agad ko siyang chineck.

"Semi coma," I mumbled. "Call Prof. Soriano."

Sage managed to perform the surgery without me as his assistant. Naghintay na lang ako sa labas ng tahimik.

The OR opened as I saw him walked out as I stood up.

"Anong nangyari?" I asked.

"She's fine," sagot niya. "She'll be placed in the recovery room for a while before being transfered to the NSICU."

I nodded.

"Dra. Bermudez?" I heard a familiar voice that made me turn around. A smile instantly appeared on my face as I saw Dra. Valencia, grinning on me.

"Dra. Valencia," I called. "Don't grin like that, it's giving me creeps."

Lumapit ako sa kanya saka ko siya niyakap.
