AIRI

Once upon an August, I was humming my own tune by the sidewalk as I walked home. Im in the mood. I liked the feeling and somehow I want to thank Sandro for it. Nakakahawa ang pagiging studious niya.

Anyway, I saw him inside the store looking at the shoe display. Siguro para dun sa babae na naka-hook up niya sa rest room last week. Or siguro bagong babae na mauuto niya.

I wanted to startle him so I stepped inside and stood behind him.

"Hey babe. Is that for me?" I asked.

I gave him one of my cheeky smiles. He widened his eyes at me.

"Sobrang ganda ko ba at nabighani ka? You see me every night, every morning. Natikman mo, nalasahan mo. Still can't get enough of me?" I grinned and touched his chest.

"Girlfriend mo?" Biglang tanong sa likod ko.

I turned around behind me and saw the Louise/Liza Marcos and Marcos Jr.

Natameme ako. My mouth literally fell upon looking at them. Why of all people, sila pa ang makakasalubong ko at makakarinig ng linyahan ko. It was a fucking stupid move.

"Uhm. Ano po. Uhh. . . .Huy Sandro mag-ano ba tayo?" I suddenly answered.

His mom widened her eyes at me while his dad was staring at me.

"She's a friend mom. It's just the way she talks."

I nodded. "Sorry po. Binibiro ko po talaga minsan si Sandro. Hehe. Sadyang panget lumabas sa bibig ko ngayon pero mahinhin po talaga ako." I answered.

Sandro made a face. "Parents this is Airi. Airi these are my parents, Louise and Bong."

"Hi po. Pasensya na po sa sinabi ko. Joke lang po talaga yun. Friends lang po talaga kami ni Sandro." I made a promise sign.

"Well its nice to meet you Airi." Tito Bong finally said.

I smiled. "You look handsome in person po. Mas gwapo po kayo kay Sandro." I told him.

Ms. Liza laughed. "Between the two Airi, Bong is better looking. Its nice to meet you Airi. Sorry a while ago I was just taken aback." She said apologetically.

"Sorry din po. I would say its an inside joke between me and Sandro pero its kinda different kung sa inyo." I chirped.

SANDRO

Airi was invited by my mom for dinner. She liked her. It was obvious.

"I am open minded Sandro. Is there really nothing romantic going on between you two?" She whispered while Airi was talking to my pops.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Mom please don't push it."

She rolled her eyes. "You are old enough to have a girlfriend and old enough to get married."

I made a face. "I will take my Masters degree first and gain experience in the industry I am with." I told her.

"What about pag-aasawa?!" She exclaimed.

Pops and Airi looked at us, startled.

"Naghahanap po kayo ng mapapangasawa ng mga anak niyo?" Airi's eyes twinkled.

I made a face. I think I know where this is going.

"No she isn't Airi. Anyway, were here because I wanted to treat you parents because I am finally graduating this semester." I spoke.

Pops smiled. "Really Sandro?"

I nodded, smiling. "Yes pops."

He stood up and embraced me. "I am proud of you son. What are you planning next?" He asked, sitting down.

"Masters degree. I am planning to take it in London School of Economics." I replied, grinning.

"That's great! When are you starting?" He asked.

"Next month. I am going to look up some apartments so I would be near the area and I would probably find another part time job." I told him

"What about marriage?" Mom suddenly asked.

I frowned. "Why are you mentioning marriage all of a sudden?" I asked.

"Just asking. Have you no plans?!" She exclaimed.

"Mom please." I replied making a face.

"So naghahanap po ba kayo ng aasawahin ng mga anak niyo?" Airi butted in. I rolled my eyes in her interest on marriage topic.

"Not really Airi." Mom replied.

"So paano po kapag may interesado tita? Tatawagin ko na po kayong tita kasi nafe-feel ko magiging daughter in law ninyo soon." She chirped.

Oh my gosh Airi. Akala ko ba mahinhin ka?

"Airi and I are dating. We are both living together," Mom widened her eyes. Pops mouth gaped. Airi blinked, looking at me. "I wasn't supposed to tell you guys but I think you have the right to know. I am sorry." I told them.

"Jowa kita?" Airi asked with a questioned look on her face.

"Don't you remember? You said yes when you got drunk?"

"I did?" She mumbled.

Mom and pops looked persuaded when I told them Airi and I have a relationship. They even bid us goodbye and asked us to go shopping with them. I think mom was glad with the fact that I have introduced a girlfriend. I have never done that in my twenty years of existence.

"So Sandro, are we gonna have sex na kasi you said we are magjowa na?" Airi asked, plopping down on the couch beside me.

"Don't flatter yourself. I only said that because I don't want Vinny to suffer the misery of an arranged marriage." I answered.

Airi made a face. "Tangina. Deviation are caused by changes nga naman."

I laughed. "Airi. Do you know what Peter Drucker said about success?" I asked, looking at her.

"What?" She asked.

"Success comes from taking management and ideas seriously. I think the same thing goes for relationships and love."

"Huy seryoso kaya ako sa feelings ko kay Vinny." She retorted, widening her eyes.

I rolled my eyes. "Please tell me that when you are no longer kissing me anytime you want. Have mercy on my lips Airi."

"Trip ko lips mo eh. Kissable." She giggled. Her eyes twinkling and she literally glowed for a moment right there.

I was taken a back for a while then shook my head.

No. Do not fall for that Sandro. I mumbled to my hypothalamus.
