AIRI
Campaign period passed by swiftly. The only events left were what they called miting de avance and the last campaign rally. Vinny and I intend to attend both so we cleared our schedules on those days.
I also went back to work a month after Davao. I also got myself a small apartment unit. It's not a high rise condominium building but a five story one. Tinuloy ko yung application ko before and they accepted me. Vinny and I go out every Sunday since it's the only fixed off that I requested. Sometimes we go out with his family on those days.
I like being with them. They are family oriented. If ever I'll really marry Vinny, I would be in good hands since he was raised that way. Sandro would join sometimes but it's the same. We act like nothing happened between us years ago. Sometimes I'd dwell on it, sometimes I would not.
I waved at Vinny when I saw him at the lobby of the hotel I work at. Never have I ever thought I would feel excitement with someone after my failed relationship with Sandro.
"Did you wait long?" I asked him.
He smiled at me. "Not much. I had a quick meeting with my team so it was fine." Kwento niya.
"Sige. Saan tayo pupunta?" I asked.
It was Saturday and I had a morning shift kaya maaga akong natapos sa work. Vinny asked me out today. We headed straight to the parking lot where he parked his car.
"Ilocos."
"Ha?"
Napanganga ako. I wasn't expecting that.
"Well go home in Ilocos." He repeated.
"Bakit?"
"Pops asked us to go. He wants to have a dinner tonight. You'll be meeting some of my relatives too."
Napatigil ako sa paglalakad. "Teka Vinny. Pause muna," I inhaled some air and exhaled. "Bakit biglang may meeting ng relatives?"
He laughed, looking at me. "Scared?"
"Kabado! Hayop ka! Ang sabi mo dinner!"
"Yeah. We'll have dinner."
"Sa Ilocos tapos kasama relatives mo which gives me the thought that your grandmother will be there!" I exclaimed, panicking.
He nodded. "Uhuh."
Nakarating kami sa sasakyan niya na nagpa-panic pa rin ako. "Vinny ha. Hindi nakakatuwa yung biro mo."
"Who says I'm kidding?" He said.
Nanlaki mata ko habang naglagay ng seatbelt.
"Bakit hindi mo sinabi ng maaga?"
"It's a surprise." He said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Huy Vinny. I'll be meeting the former first lady of the Philippines. Hindi mo manlang ako pinaghanda!" I panicked.
"You look beautiful Airi."
"Hinde! Ang haggard ko!"
Humalakhak ang loko. "Airi, believe me. You look amazing."
"Kasi boyfriend kita. It's only natural that you'll say that. It's a biased opinion." I debated.
He started the engine, shaking his head with a sly grin on his face.
"Maganda ka nga. Ano bang gusto mong ayos?" He insisted.
"Yung hindi naka shorts at loose shirt po." I gritted my teeth, looking at him. I was freaking wearing high waist shorts and some old loose shirt that says, 'Oxford Brookes University' which was probably Simon's shirt.
