SANDRO"Do you believe in fairytales Sandro?" Airi asked me one afternoon. We were just lying down on my bed while waiting for our flight to Laoag. I asked her if she wanted to visit my hometown and she said yes saying, she packed some bikinis and would love to go in the beach.
I looked at her. She was looking at me as if waiting for my answer. "It's like asking if I believe in Santa Claus." I commented.
Airi laughed. "Its just a yes or no question Sandro."
"If you ask me about it, no."
"How about happily ever after? Do you believe in them?" She asked.
"Yes I do believe in that part. My parents made me believe in happily ever after. My mama Meldy and the original Ferdinand too." I replied.
She smiled. "Me too Sandro. Hindi ko nakita sa mga magulang ko ang happily ever after na nakikita ko kina Cinderella o Sleeping beauty pero nakita ko yun sa parents mo and I kinda want something like that too."
I made a face. "Cinderella claimed she fell in love with the prince at first sight. Sleeping beauty is the worst. The king murdered his queen and raped sleeping beauty while she was asleep. There is no happily ever after in that."
"That's the other version. Way to ruin it Sandro." She retorted.
"I am just saying. If you want a fairytale ending, you make your own fairytale. Not base it on some story from a book that are worst than you can ever imagine." I told her.
"Nakakainis ka! Ang ganda ng moment natin tapos sinira mo. Ingudngod kaya kita sa tuhod ni Mavis!" She hissed.
I made a face. "I was just telling you my opinion. Alangan naman ikaw lang ang magsalita? Its not how communication works and you know that. Effective listening is essential in a work group industry."
"Hala siya marunong nang sumagot!" She squealed.
And she is back to her usual self. "Please don't tease me."
"Guys. Car is here. Please don't lie down on the same bed with the door open. I might actually believe that the two of you are really serious about dating each other." Simon spoke.
Airi laughed, getting down the bed. "Simon gusto mo ba akong i-date seriously?" I heard her ask.
I could only roll my eyes.
Simon made a face. "No thank you. Were better off as friends AJ. Dating you would be a load of work. I mean," He looked at me. "Look at my older brother. It's like he is the representation of the Law of Diminishing Returns"
I rolled my eyes. "Do I look like some kind of commodity for you guys?"
Simon nodded. "Yes. You are the used good who will depreciate sooner or later the more Airi uses you."
"Lalaspag ka sa madaling salita." Airi noted.
"Woman your mouth has no filter." I told her, shaking my head.
"In other words, you look like you aged ever since you met Airi." Simon added.
Airi laughed. "Tanders talaga yan noon pa. Walang nagbago maliban sa naging two layers eyebags niya."
"We're same age Airi." I reminded her as we walked down the stairs.
"Baby face ako. Baby height ako. For short, hindi halata kaya ngayon ang tawag mo dapat sa akin ay baby. Baby ni Simon." She grinned.
Simon's jaw dropped. "Bakit ako nasama?"
"Kasi trip ko. Hindi pwedeng umayaw ha. Ang aayaw bakla." She even widened her eyes at us.
