I hadn't anticipated how much work was put into the elders control over every living thing on Alpha. How much they could control. And how much they actually held themselves back. Luckily, not all elders were evil and not all wanted to do us harm.
I woke on a field of daisies and sat up quickly to establish if I was in any immediate danger. I wasn't. Ruby, Rose, Sophia, James, Evie, Henry, John, my mother and even Astoria emerged standing up surrounded by white-yellow colored daisies and green grass. It was a scene out of a book or a fairytale. The atmosphere was almost dreamy. The air was filled by the flowers' sweet smell and the hazy smelling magic that summoned all of us. I looked around and couldn't help but feel a sense of danger toward us. Maybe my spider-sense was acting up again. Damn Hope for making me watch all Spider-Man movies and me for loving them. The danger cloud felt hazy and weird and like the elders. But they were nowhere in sight. Astoria was the first one moving, they made their way toward Sophia, who surprisingly pulled them into a tight hug. I could see from this distance that Sophia was afraid. My mom was acting brave but she was good at keeping up acts, so she surely was freaking out inside. But then again, I never knew my mother so, I couldn't pretend to know what she was thinking. Eve was indeed freaking out, searching for a trusting face until she saw Sophia and ran up to the older revilas. Ruby had also started looking around but she was actually making her way toward me. It was the same with James, John and Henry. The revilas men were confused. James more than the Craven brothers. When they reached me, they started rambling, and I had to break them up to tell them that I had no idea what was happening.
„One moment, I was hovering in the air fifty feet over the ground, trying to make sense of what everyone was doing, because I felt so silly hiding that I just wanted to do something, and the next one, I'm falling and waking up here. I have no idea what's happening but I can tell that this is the elders doing. I know it." I sighed and wiped my hands over my face. Taking a deep breath, I looked around.
„Sure, I mean who else had the power to bring us all here at the exact same time, right?" John said and I stepped forward, taking his face into my hands, „Hey," I said, trying to be as calm and soothing as I could. „We'll get through this. No need to panic. The minute we begin to falter, we'll be weak." John relaxed and put his hands on my shoulders and let out a deep breath.
„And we'll be vulnerable." He whispered and I nodded.
„We can't afford to be weak. I'm sorry, but not right now. We need to stand united. Whether it's Cassius or the elders, we need to be careful."
Then, as if she listened to me, Sophia stepped up and told everyone to stay calm and to stay together. If this was the elders' doing, we'd need to be able to work as a group, she'd told us.
We came together and stood almost huddled up in a group before the raven-haired woman.
Somewhere between Sophia talking, us coming together and a thunderstorm beginning, Ruby'd taken my hand.
„All of you here. It makes it almost too easy." A male voice spoke from afar before coming into our view and I immediately felt tired. I knew that I said that I was going to beat him no matter what or where but I was too afraid and tired to do anything right now.
„How are you here?" Sophia asked as she stood before us, like a knight in shining armor, taking every hit intended for us.
„The same as you, I suppose. But what I just said, that wasn't for you, no. That was for them." He looked behind us and I dared to turn around, being the first to get struck by lightning in the chest. I doubled over and screamed in pain. My mother called out for me, as did Sophia and James, but Ruby was the one shielding me from more. It was her who held my gaze as she was enduring the elders wrath over and over again.
„No! Stop!" I managed to shout as the girl before me took every hit intended for me without so much as a scream. She whimpered and grunted under their magic but she didn't give in. And I knew she would never. And she did it all for me.
Suddenly, they stopped and came into our view as Sophia rushed forward to put an end to it.
„My name is Sophia Chamberlain, daughter of Marie Chamberlain and I command you to-" She never finished her sentence, only looked straight ahead as the masses of ghosts and dead dark revilas vanished and only one remained.
„You command nothing, mer sa nex." The man infront of Sophia was not much older than the rest of us. But he actually aged before he died. There was gray in his brown hair and trimmed down beard and a hazy fog in his grey eyes that told nothing. He must have been in his thirties now. The gray in his beard and hair vanished, as did the hazy eyes. An illusion or a spell? He wore a gray cloak and a stern expression.
Ruby helped me up and we supported each other, knowing both of us could fall to the ground in a matter of seconds.
The man's eyes scanned our ranks until he tilted his head as his grey eyes found the ones next to mine.
„Ah, Ruby Hale. How are you, ne me tregrac?" I knew that saying, my newest creation, or something.
„Oh, I'm doing great, Thomas. No thanks to you." She spat as she held herself weakly at my arm.
„Well, then, let's get on with it. I hereby put the soul of Cassius, the first revilas back into the aforementioned." He said and then I heard Cassius scream in agony. I turned my head back and saw him kneeling on the grass, one hand at his chest as his black eyes closed shut.
„And I hereby break the link between Rose and Cassius, as well as the link between Rose, Cassius and Amaya Mikaelson, the soulbond link between Josette Lucas Saltzman and Amaya Rose Mikaelson, as well as the soulbond link between Niklaus Mikaelson and Olivia Grace Hale-Mikaelson." Thomas raised his hand but kept his head down before he snapped his fingers which put me back under. I just could hear my mother scream no before I was engulfed by darkness again.
