It has been a few days since I woke up. I still attended school with Yeji and Kai but I barely get to escape them. Its as if they were my watch dogs. All I want right now is to go home. I get it. I fought with Soobin and all but he's still my last bit of family left.
"Nabi you okay?" Yeji asked.
"Yeah just tired" I lied.
"You want to take a break and go for some fresh air?" She asked.
"No we need to finish this assignment before class ends" I say.
Suddenly I felt that same old chill strike at my spine.
"Did you hear?" Some girl asked.
"Hear what?" Her friend asked.
"That Choi Yeonjun transferred into our class this morning" she said.
"Gosh he's so cool. Just look at him" another girl chimes.
"I hope he's single" the first girl said.
He was sitting in the front row just 3 seats in front of me. Why is he here? I went to stand up and go to him but Kai took my hand and pulled me back.
"Kai what's wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing are you sure you're okay you look kinda of pale" he said.
"What? Kai I'm fine now let me go" I said.
He held on tighter and I felt someone pull me from his grip.
"She said let go" Yeonjun said pulling me away from Kai.
"Yeonjun" I say looking up.
"You okay Nabi?" he asked in a warmer tone than before.
"Yeah I'm okay" I said.
Yeji stood face to face with him and glared at me before signalling me to run. However, I didn't. This has to be a mistake. Yeonjun is not a wolf so why are they protecting me from him.
"Nabi come here" she said.
"No" I said.
"Nabi he is very-"
"Very what? Dangerous. Yeah sure why not? I know him and he is not dangerous he's a normal person" I said utting of Yeji's words.
"Nabi please" Kai said.
"No leave me alone" I said. I dragged Yeonjun away apologizing for being attacked by them for no reason.
Once the school day was over I left with Yeonjun. I no longer wanted to live with those hunters as they are randomly accusing my friends for something they are not.
"Nabi" Yeonjun said taking my hand.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I spoke with Soobin and he's agreed to let you stay over with me if you want"
"Oh um why?" I asked.
"He thinks its best if you had someone else to stay with so that the hunters won't find you. He doesn't want you around them" he said.
"And if I ask him this myself he'll repeat all of that back to me right?" I questioned crossing my arms.
He panicked but then smiled at me in response.
"Fine let me just speak with him. He must be worried about me anyway" I say.
Yeonjun walked me all the way back to the den circle and in seconds Soobin rushed outside.
"You're alive" he said hugging me.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I asked.
"They do things Nabi" he whispered.
"So am I staying with you or him?" I asked pulling out from the hug.
"You told her about that?" He asked.
"She deserves to know Soobin" Yeonjun said.
"Nabi look don't see this as me trying to get rid of you 'cause I'm not. I'll never do that I'll never abandon you. It's just..." He hesitated before he spoke again which is rare for him.
"I feel like I can't protect you alone anymore. I'm not as quick as I once was before" he said.
"What changed?" I asked.
"The hunters had laced wolfs bane on an arrow and shot me with it. This was right before your family incident. Even though I've healed the wolfs bane has mixed with my blood making me very weak" he said.
I was at loss for words. Why didn't he ever tell me about this? Why was he facing that alone all this time? Was he worried how I'd react? Or that I'd be even more hurt that I almost lost him too?
"YAH CHOI SOOBIN-AH!" I yell hitting him.
"I'm sorry okay" he says hold my hands from hitting him more.
"Nabi.... we are letting you decide who you stay with first" Yeonjun said.
"Um Soobin" Niki interrupted.
"What is it?" Soba asked.
"The guardians appeared" he said.
"What how?" He asked.
"Nabi you thought of the pain of what it would be like to lose him too didn't you?" Niki asked.
"Sort of" I said.
"She summoned them without meaning to" Yuna says.
"Yeonjun go home I'll drop her off at your place tomorrow" he said.
"What's a guardian?" I asked.
"Hello Nabi" a tall boy says.
"How do you know my name?" I asked a bit scared.
"I know all about those who summon me and my comrades" he said.
"Don't worry Nabi we are here to guard you. From what Niki has told us Soobin wants to protect you from future events. In that matter we go where ever you are, providing a seal that hides you from the world or whom ever it is that we are to hide you from" a girl says.
"Nabi this is Lia and this is Chae. My name is Jake" the boy said.
"We are your guardians" they all said in unison.
"Soba what events are they talking about?" I ask.
"I wish I could tell you. However once I send you over to stay with him the seal will be made not even I will be able to find you unless they allow me to" he said.
Yeonjun left after that and Soobin apologized over and over about it.
What happened while I was gone? Why am I never in the loop? What is too important that I can't know about?
"Nabi" Soba snapped me out of my thoughts and for a moment I felt so lonely.
"I didn't go after some wolf and forgot about you. I went after a valuable piece on the board that will help me find someone close to you" he said.
"Who?" I asked.
"I'm not sure. But if I find them before the hunters do then maybe you won't feel so alone anymore" he said.
Soobin's pov
I'm sorry Nabi I can't say for sure but he may still be alive. However, your brother may not be human anymore. Only she can find him her skills display that very well. I will find him before the hunters do. Before Heesung does.
