link vid; loving you is a losing game

Yeonjun's pov

Nabi's  been out ever since we got back and has a very high fever. This is all my fault. I shouldn't have ever taken her to the lake.

Jay has stayed with her ever since we got back. Lia has to stay behind to treat her and is almost finished. I stayed put watching the whole thing, but mostly, I'm listening to Nabi's heartbeat. It's rapid and constantly skipping a beat every 8 beats. What scares me most is that she won't wake up after her fever has gone down. Suddenly, I'm pulled from thoughts by Jay tapping my shoulder.

"How is she?"

"She's awake and wants to speak with you. Lia is preparing for departure. "

"Hey you, I get it. we guardians are here to protect her at all costs, but that doesn't mean going off getting her killed. That wasn't just any fever that was caused because she's trying to remember her past through her subconscious state, "

"The voice?"

"We don't know yet but we'll look into that matter because if they can't speak to her through  the seal then she isn't safe anywhere and we guardians will be no use to you" she said before leaving.

I go over to Nabi and take her hand in mine, and she hugs me.

"I'm so sorry, Nabi, that's not what I expected from taking you there,"

"No, it wasn't your fault," she holds me tighter, trembling.

"Nabi, what's wrong?"

"I felt you ever second I was unconscious I felt you and I felt your pain I heard all of your thoughts Yeonjun what happened was in no way what so ever your fault this has been happening for a really long time and Soba even knew about it but promise me you won't keep on blaming yourself because...."

I couldn't watch her break down anymore.

"shhh okay okay alright I won't just calm down breath Nabi" I gave her a faint smile as she tries to catch her breath and looks back at me with her big adorable eyes and puffy cheeks.

"Yeonjun, I feel your emotions, your feelings, and can hear your thoughts. Why?"

"we're bonded, Nabi."

"What?"

"I'll explain it to you someday, I promise." I gave her a sad smile as I felt my heart breaking.

She nodded, understanding why I couldn't share that right now, and I carried her to her room.

"I'll make you something to eat, but for now, you should rest."

"Will you stay with me?" She asked.

"Yeah," I say, lying down next to her.

She can finally feel me like I've always been able to feel her. This made me very happy but very scared. All of this is new to her it'll be emotional overload. Within minutes, she falls asleep in my arms, and I listen to the soothing pattern of her small soft breaths.

I felt comfortable knowing that I could hold her like this again, but that didn't last long.

"Your parents are home they are outside," Jay said, rushing in.

"they shouldn't be home yet," I said, getting up.

"What do we do?" He asked.

"Keep Nabi safe and try your best to hide her human scent as much as you can."

"How do I do that?" He asks.

I gave him the figure it out look and rushed downstairs and outside.

Jake appeared in the barrier and held in up.

"Why'd you come alone?"  I asked.

"You strained Lia's power, and Chae has to take care of her right now. Besides, I'm stronger than those two fledglings, and your parents can't really take me on all on their own."

"So now what?"

"I'm going hold the seal up, but you're going to communicate with them from inside.

"What do you mean I got us lost?" mom yelled.

"You went in the wrong direction," Dad argued.

"So what you're saying, I don't know where I live," She argued back.

"Maybe I am. You've always been so confident in your sense of direction, not to mention everything you do. Least now we know where Yeonjun gets it from, " He says.

"How about I not communicate with them after all they'll just ask me where the house went, and they can't really know Nabi is here," I say.

"So you're just going to leave your parents out there all confused?"  Jake asked.

"Yeah, I have no choice but to consider I'm protecting a girl they think is dead and a werewolf cub," I stated.

"Fine, I'll redirect their location of their home elsewhere, and in the meantime, just know the baby will be hard for me to conceal behind this border," He says.

"Don't worry, I'll find a way," I said, going back inside. I walk back into Nabi's room to find Jay holding my clothes.

"What are you doing?"

"You said to hide her scent," he said, dropping the clothes on top of her.

"with air re-freshener or I don't know the thousands of colognes I have here In this house to mask the smell of death," I say.

"Well, what better option did I have than to hide the scent of a living person with the smell of someone who's dead?" He said.

"Who's dead?" Nabi says in a raspy voice, pushing  some of the clothes off.

"n-no one," I say.

"I'm just gonna go," Jay says, walking out of her room.

"I'm not dead by the way," I whisper to Jay as he leaves.

"Yeonjun, I saw you again," she said.

"When?" I asked.

"When I fell asleep, I saw you dying. I tried to wake you up, but nothing I tried was working. You died, " She said.

"Nabi I-"

"I'm sorry. I know that's a little weird and even creepy, but I thought I should tell you," She says, pushing my clothes off of her.

"No No its uhm, it's okay. I think it's great that you feel comfortable telling me this," I say.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

"Yeah,"

She became sad after that, and I took her hand in mine and tried to cheer her up. Even if I die when she closes her eyes, I'm much more than alive when she wakes up, and I always will be.

"we should get something to eat," I say. She lights up like a christmas tree and stands before pulling me along.

I want to hug her right now and hold her close to me. Seeing her happy just makes me feel so vulnerable and free. I love it.
