The two were now walking hand in hand, far behind the younger Ravenclaw who was now around 17 skipped steps ahead of them. The two were talking about Professor Trelawney's possible -mind you,- prophecy. Although Cedric was kinda sceptical about the prophecy, he could tell that his boyfriend was not as relaxed as he was. The Gryffindor has been fidgeting with his fingers, ever since they exited the little clearing.
The Gryffindor became unusually silent... and even gloomier for that matter. Cedric wanted to read what was his boyfriend thinking, but at the same time, he didn't wanna be too prying. So they walked on for some more, all the way until they were halfway towards the edge of the forest. No one could ever know how bad he wanted to have that flower in his hands right now, just to cheer his boyfriend up.
Perhaps sensing Cedric's distress, Max started to whine before trying to get out of his embrace desperately. Cedric -who was immediately pulled out of his thought- let the pup down gently onto the ground, thinking that Max was needing a little bathroom time. As soon as Max's paws made contact with the cold forest floor, he immediately waddle towards the edge of the clearing.
"He needs some poopoo time?" Rey asked in fascination, totally invested over the prospect of Max -A pup that was transfigured out of a rock- needed said poopoo time.
"Of course he does love." Cedric ruffled the Gryffindor's soft brown locks before going after his little puppy. Imagine his shock when he couldn't find Max anywhere near the end of the trail.
"Max!!!" His voice was laced with distress, catching the attention of his boyfriend. Only Merlin knows where Luna is right now.
"What's wrong?"
"I can't find him..." Cedric looked around before screaming again, "MAX!"
"Did he just run away?" Rey asked.
"No, I figured he was needing a bathroom time," Cedric said before kneeling, picking up a random rock from the cold forest floor. Could Max just possibly turn back into a rock? Right?
"Do you think-" He hiccuped, couldn't even churn out another word. It wasn't until a few minutes of nauseating silence that another sound was heard. This time, it was his boyfriend.
"Ced... There he is!" The Gryffindor squealed while pointing his finger in a specific direction. It didn't even take two seconds for Cedric to turn around, giving himself a mild whiplash as a result.
There, standing in all of his cuteness, Max held a single flower in his mouth. The Pup's eyes were all closed -just like every time he have done something cute or impressive-, clearly waiting for Cedric's praise. Cedric could only gasp when he realized that Max had just gone to the spot where he usually got Rey that flower, which was just a short walking distance from where they were. How could he even forget about that?
"Oh... Max." His lips quivered as he picks up the little Golden Boy. Max's tail wagged haphazardly as he was lifted into the air.
"Isn't he the cutest?" Rey cooed before petting Max's head, causing Max to open his eyes and tried to reach for Rey. Even though the Gryffindor was all confused -all the while keep cooing at his pup-, Cedric immediately understand what Max wanted to do.
"Oh, is that for your father, Max?" Cedric asked in mirth, causing the little pup to wiggle with excitement in his embrace.
"Really?" The Gryffindor asked with reddened cheeks. He still blush whenever Cedric called him Max's father. That was the truth though, Rey was the father and Cedric was the dad. A proud dad for that matter.
"All right then, I'll take it from you, love." The younger reached out for the white and shiny flower before kissing Max on the forehead. To say that Max loved it, was truly an understatement of the century.
