Britain's countryside -or any countryside in that matter-, never failed to lure him in. The tall grass waving under the light breeze, the greeneries that spanned over for miles, and those patches of forest every here and there always amazed him. Those sceneries might be boring for some. But for Adrian, it always brought him back to home.
As the first one to be born amongst his brothers, Adrian had to spend the first years of his life in the residence with no one to play with. Because his family never really had a care taker, his parents always brought him to their office. He would went with either his mother or his father, depended on how busy they were and who Adrian really wanted to spend some time with.
His mother, who have been working at the ministries way before he was born -probably right after his parents were married-, would usually brought Adrian to her office. By the time he was able to remember things, she already worked as one of the deputies for the speaker. Her office was good, but it appeared to be rather old. The ancient cupboards had many books regarding laws, the type of books that Adrian never really lay his hands on.
On the other hand, whenever he felt like to travel, he would tag along with his father on his medical trips. Way before his days in the ministry, his father was occupying himself on his magical medicines study. He said that he wanted to be a healer or a mediwizard, which was equivalent to the muggle's.... doctor??? Yes, that what they were called.
Then after getting his certification, his father took it upon himself to ocassionally travel around the country to help various rural magical communitites with their magical health problems. Most of the time the problems were ranged From a tiny uptick in flu cases or a mass outbreak of magical maladies. If the problems were minor enough -and his father condemned it would be safe for Adrian-, his father would allow him to tag along.
The thing that pushed his father to work in the ministry was when the 1982 malady happened. The outbreak was originated from a small magical village in the Northeastern part of Ontario. Adrian had a faint idea that the plague was caused by a mutaded form of Black Cat Plague, but he could be wrong. Albeit the transmission was slow, the ministry didn't have any adequate cure at that time, therefore rendering it impossible to thoroughly stop the plague. When they heard that his father was such an excellent, they employed the help of his father, effectively pulling him into the ministrial work.
After being requested, his father immediately jumped into his lab after accumulating enough samples to work on. The man sealed himself in one wing of the house, creating a barrier that no one could pass through, and worked on the cure for months to no end. Even though he wasted almost a year working with that virus, the man finally emerging from the lab with a victorious smile on one February morning. He hurriedly went to Toronto to submit his discovery, and finally helped the ministry to end that malady once and for all.
Adrian still could recall his foolery to this day. He persistenly asked his mother about his father's condition for every single nights on the few months he was working on the cure. And for each time he asked, his mother would smile whole-heartedly before saying that his father was fine. His mother herself have pulled out of her office, totally concerned about him and his brothers' well-being.
Yet despite her unvoiced concerns, Adrian -being the ten year old that he was- spent his days together playing around with Beau by running around the shore of the lake. In his defense, Adrian would say that he was bored and he did help his mother by babysitting Rey while his mother was resting. Yet nevertheless, those defenses were probably still far from adequate.
Speaking about Rey, till this day Adrian never understood why his brother won't stop crying when he was babysitting him all those years ago. He could recall how his tiny brother would wave his hands desperately whenever Adrian picked his tiny body up, as if Rey was aiming to punch him in the face. Beau would pointed at Adrian for everytime Rey did so, before laughing at his face and citing that his face was horrifying. Adrian didn't understand why, but he had his suspicions.
