SUMMER
"So is that your place?" Cedric asked Rey while pointing randomly to a house they passed.
"Nope." Rey replied with a loud popping sound.
"How about that tall one? Your's probably a flat?" He pointed to another one as his guess.
"Ain't that one too Ce-."
"Diggory... If you don't stop, I swear I'll throw you out of the car." Adrian threatened him, making him go all tensed. Rey didn't waste any breath to stood up for him.
"What's with your obsession of throwing people, really?" Rey scowled his brother.
"Standing up for your little b-" Adrian couldn't finished his sentence due to a loud smack he received from Rey.
The rest of the car ride was spent in silence. Cedric reminisced when he asked his parents if he could stay at Rey's for the summer. He could remember their eager faces, almost like they tried to rid of him for the summer.
Truth be told, when Rey asked him to stay during the summer, he thought he was going to Barnton. Imagine his surprise when Adrian and Rey took him to Heathrow and flew them out to Toronto on a jet! It never crossed his mind that Rey was inviting him to stay for the summer at his family's house, not their summer house.
The three drove past the downtown area. Cedric could see the skycrapers moving through their windows, one quickly replaced with the other. A few moments later, they entered a basement at the Osgoode Hall. Adrian asked them to get out of the car and led them to the lift. After the three of them were inside, Adrian tapped the digital screen three times with his Laurel-wooded wand.
"Totally not magic." He spoke into the speaker, making the red number on the screen turned green.
"Reception Hall." Adrian added.
The elevator started moving quickly downwards, making its way towards their destination in less than a minute. When the door opened, they were greeted by a white marble hall. Cedric's jaw couldn't drop any lower. Rey told him that the building was comparible to the grand central station. Because he didn't know where that was and he was too busy taking in the view, he just nodded.
"Id please." A rather exhausted looking woman asked them.
Beau gave her a red-leather pocket book to be scanned over. After a short beep was heard, the woman allowed them to walk past the giant oak door. The giant oak door led them to a huge open space. The space had the form of a stadium, clustered with benches and tables every here and there, and one huge fountain in the center as its main attraction. It also had exposed corridors ran along its walls, which Cedric suspects lead to various offices.
Adrian take them through the crowded courtyard to what the older boy called the hub. They passed many rooms and hallways as they pushed their trolleys -yes, they along with many people used trolleys to get heavy lugages around- through the crowded halls. They passed a huge T-shaped hallway, which Rey told him it was where the main offices located. Cedric also couldn't help but noticed there were other magical creatures walking around the ministries.
"Curious much?" Rey got closer besides him.
"Oh, I rather was actually. Never remembered any magical creatures back in my dad's office."
"Well, the ministry here has its own parliament. Like the Wizengamot in Britain, but not exclusively human. There are also Merpeople from the coast of Vancouver Island, Vampires from various Courts, werewolves, and giants. That's why every ceiling here is no less than 8 meters actually. Come on, we've reached the hub." The Gryffindor nudged his shoulder to move along.
