Cedric was jolted awake by Rey's faint whimpers. It appeared to be early in the morning, a few days after that terrible thing happened to them both. And with how upset his boyfriend was from Beau's description, he should've understood that it would be paramount for the boy to experience nightmares for a few days.
Mentally throwing his brain out the window, Cedric quickly wrapped his boyfriend in his embrace. He didn't waste any time to calm the Gryffindor down by running his hands up and down the smooth back. It took a while, but at least his boyfriend managed to calm down a little before waking up drowsily.
"CED!" Rey gasped awake, abruptly trying to get off their bed from the nightmare's aftershock. The boy could've fallen off the bed and seriously injured himself. But thankfully, Cedric swift instinct managed to shot his hands to pull the Gryffindor off from the edge of the bed.
"Hey... Careful now, little one." Cedric helped the Gryffindor, who was now having his feet dangling off the edge of the bed. His drowsiness was already replaced with pure adrenaline, surprising himself in the process.
"Ced..." The younger boy whispered meekly, as Cedric pulled him back into his embrace. He didn't know exactly what was the best word that would comfort his boyfriend, so Cedric just hugged the boy tight to give him solace.
"Sh... You're okay little one, I'm here...." He patted Rey's hair every now and then to further comfort the Gryffindor. "I promised that I will always take care of you, right?"
"Yes..." The Gryffindor nuzzled his nose onto the crook of his neck.
The two of them stayed that way for a bit while, all until Cedric was assured that Rey have calmed down. He let the time pass around him, while he absentmindely stares at the window. The view was clear and bright, as if Mother Earth have moved on from the riot that happened a few days ago. The riot might have only lasted for an hour or so, but the effect it have left was was still extant within the two of them. And till that very moment, Cedric still cursed himself for not insisting to accompanied his boyfriend.
Yet despite all of that self-loathing, Cedric felt extremely grateful that Rey didn't sustain any permanent injuries or side effects from that attack. Cruciatus Curse could be extremely dangerous to anyone who was subjected to its exposure, repeatedly, for such a long time. He couldn't even fathom if what happened to Alice and Frank Longbottom would ought to happen to his boyfriend.
It have been a few days ever since that horrific encounter was dawned upon them. Even though the weary feelings that Cedric have felt was winding down by the day, he couldn't say the same for his boyfriend. Rey was still a bit jumpy, not to mention how the Gryffindor was getting clingier than usual. Oftentimes, his boyfriend would cling onto his hand or followed him around like a lost puppy for the whole day. He have tried to reassure Rey that he would be fine, but his boyfriend insisted to keep clinging onto him. And when Cedric asked why did he do that, the Gryffindor only fell silent while staring at him pensively.
Albeit Rey's nightmare was still present, Cedric feels relieved that it have became milder by the day. During the first night after that accident, the Gryffindor straight out sobbing in his sleep. He still remembered how Rey was practically bawling his eyes out while hugging his body in a bear hug. The memory of his fright was ingrained deeply in his mind, as Cedric tried to woke his boyfriend up to no avail. It wasn't until the upteenth time he shook Rey's body, that Rey finally opened up his sleepy and puffy eyes while hiccuping slightly.
Right then and there, he felt pure rage directed towards that rioter... or -how Adrian said it,- that death eater. He didn't know what kinds of spell Rey have been cursed with by that... bastard. He also didn't know what kind of despicable things that brute have said to his boyfriend. As For all Cedric knew, he was glad that the bastard have been taken care of. He hoped that the man was now serving his sentence in Azkaban for what he have done to his boyfriend, and that little girl.
