Jasper and Him

On the door were the names Alice & Jasper, and I had to remind myself that not only were they together, but probably a hundred years old, so it was acceptable for the to share a room. I knew Alice wouldn't be there, because she had seen that I would want to talk to him, so I went  ahead and knocked.

"Alice told me you'd be here," he said in his southern accent. "C'mon in."

As I opened the door, I immediately saw who was in charge of decorating the room. Alice had painted the walls black, and splattered every colour of paint imaginable on the walls. The king sized bed was a beautiful shade of violet, and I could see the closet, which looked bigger than the bedroom itself. On one of the walls hung a black lives matter poster, which confused me a little, since it had no correlation with the theme of the room. It must have been Jasper's. All in all, Alice probably had lots of fun making the room look like a paint bomb exploded.

"Why do you have a black lives matter poster?" I asked.

"How do you know it ain't Alice's?" he replied

"I know I just met her, but she doesn't seem like the type of person to hang a poster that mismatched with the colour scheme."

He sighed, acknowledging that I was right.

"You know I was a confederate soldier before I turned?"

"Carlisle told me a little about it, but I kind of forgot." I was procrastinating a little, but I also really wanted to learn more about my new family. And so, he began his story.

"Yeah, I was a confederate soldier. I had lied about my age, and was the youngest general so far. I was supervising a group of people who were running from a dangerous spot, but there was a slight problem, and I had to head back. I was behind, and couldn't really see anyone, when three girls came up to me. They were the prettiest girls I had ever seen. I didn't recognize them from the group I was helping though, so I decided to come over and ask them.

'Can I help you ladies?' I asked. They kept talking among themselves, and I couldn't hear anything much. Soon enough, two of them started walking away and the other one came towards my horse. I got of and met her half way.

'I really hope you make it,' she said. and then she bit me."

It seemed like he had more to his story, but didn't want to say. I could respect that.

"And this correlates to the poster how?" I asked.

"I told you I was a confederate soldier. You remember what side the confederates were on?"

Holy crap. I had completely forgotten.

"Yeah, I was a confederate, and a pretty passionate one at that." he continued. "But I ended up realizing the error of my ways, and that little poster is the least I can do."

He looked uncomfortable sharing this much though, so I said my thanks and excused myself.

Which really left me one thing I wanted to do, unless spending the night zoned out with only my imagination was an option. But since it wasn't, I searched the house for Emmett's room, and found it directly opposite to mine. The perfect place for it to be.

I knocked on the door, and for once, instead of just telling me to come in, he came up and opened the door for me.

"Can I help you?"

"I'm a little bored," I said, "And given since this is kind of your fault, I was hoping you could entertain me."

"Fair enough," he smiled "You may enter."

His room looked like a traditional teenagers room, even though he isn't really anymore. His dark green walls were covered in LED lights and pictures of the Cullen family. In one corner was a glass box containing a baseball, a bat, a glove, a cap and a jersey, all with the Cullen emblem signed on them.

"Nice," I said, looking around and sitting on his bed. Why did everyone here have a bed if no one slept?

We sat in silence for a little before Emmett asked me, "You're really fine with being what we are and all?"

"Yeah, if I had to choose between a supernatural life for eternity and living with my abusive parents, I'd choose the amazing vampire life with a bunch of lovely people ready to welcome me with open arms."

I was trying to be sarcastic, but the fact that it was true, that I finally had a family, it made me cry, although went I went to wipe my tears away, m hands were dry.

"We don't cry either," Emmett said.

"I wasn't crying," I lied, "My eyes were hurting and I was rubbing my eyes."

"Ok, tell me something I don't know about you," he asked.

The first thought I had in mind was that I had a massive crush on him, but that didn't seem like a normal topic of conversation.

"I play piano," I lied. I had taken only a couple lessons and could barely play chopsticks, but he didn't have to know that.

"Cool, Edward plays it too. You two could play together." Shit. Of course a group of intelligent, fifty year old vampires would have one person that could play the piano. I had to distract him.

"Your turn. Tell me something I don't know."

He grinned, "Should I make you uncomfortable?"

What could possibly make me uncomfortable? I nodded. Nothing could worry me that much.

"You know what Edward told me when we saw you outside Spanish?" Holy shit. No. He told me he didn't say anything. Emmett continued. "He said 'Someone's got a crush on you. Newbie, on your left.' He was talking about you."

If it was possible, I went paler than I already was. Edward was going to pay for this. He was cool, but no one, and I mean no one, talks about my crushes, especially not to them.

The shock appeared in my face apparently, because he smiled and let out a small laugh. "Y/N, you're face,"

"What about it?" I was going to get mad, "Is it because I'm surprised that Edward called me out like that?"

"A little," he said, "but you're chill, so we're good." I took a deep breath. "And you're kind of cute too,"

WHAT? No, he didn't say that. I could take a joke, but not this one. I huffed a little, stood up, and prepared to storm out of the room, but Emmett took my arm.

"Dude what are you doing? I was serious! You're really nice!"

"Nice is not the same as cute, and cute is not a quality that I have!"

"Yeah, it is. And even if it wasn't, you're still funny, easy going, and I have a lot of fun around you." he tried to convince me. "Listen, I like you too. You're cool, in a different way than my siblings."

I turned to look at him, gave a small nod, and sat back on the bed.

He looked relieved. "That wasn't hard, was it?"

I chuckled. "That's what she said,"

We burst out in laughter, and our faces simultaneously got closer together. The room got quiet, and we were just smiling, staring into each others eyes. His hand lifted my chin, so our lips were millimetres away. This was the moment I had been imagining. I closed my eyes and leaned in.

A burst of happiness flooded through me as our lips crashed together. My vision was clouded with light, and I couldn't think of anything I would rather be doing than kissing Emmett. Although we were both ice cold, I felt so warm with his hands cupping my face that I forgot I wasn't human.

This. Was. Perfect.

A/N)      Sorry, I know this was a crappy chapter, but I had writers block and couldn't find a way to start the relationship between Emmett and you.

Take care,
