My Favourite Scar (Emmett Cullen x Reader)

Denalis

Esme was excited. She couldn't wait to make a room that catered to "One of my favourite couples in the universe" Her words, not mine. She refused to let us go anywhere near her room, because of the huge mess of blueprints and scribbles, and she didn't want us in our own rooms, just in case she took things from there.

We were told that for one weekend, we had to go on a hunting trip to the Denali family, to let me meet them. We knew it was just so Esme could get the whole family to help or something like that. I wondered if they did this sort of stuff for Alice and Jasper, or were ever as excited about this shit as they were now.

As we headed to the Denali's, I couldn't help but wonder what our room would look like, or if it was too soon. After all, we had only been together for five weeks now, and only mates for one. I guess vampires moved faster with relationships?

I was twisting y hands together, regretting Esme making us go. They didn't know me, I didn't know them. The probably won't like me, and then what'll happen. The Denali's are like family to the Cullens. I'd have to leave them. Would Emmett come with me or would I have to go alone?

I was hyperventilating, and slowed down to a walk, coughing and wheezing. Emmett came back, and lifted my chin so I had to look at him.

"What's wrong, y/n?"

"I can't do this, I can't do this," I kept repeating under my breath, "They hate me. They'll hat me and then I'll have to live by myself and no one will want to talk to me and you won't be there and I'm going to die alone," I kept ranting and overreacting.

"They are going to love you," he reassured me, "They love me, and we have so much in common they'll have to love you." He could see it was helping, so he continued, "You know, Tanya, one of the girls, has a crush on Edward?"

"What? No!"

"Oh yeah, it's true. But he rejected her, and she's been a little bitter about it ever since."

That distracted me for a bit. We stopped running and just walked fast, Emmett telling me funny stories about the two families. We tried not to say covens, because it felt like so much more than that. I had stopped panicking, and was listening to the sound of his voice, trying to memorize each and every syllable. 

"... And then she electrocuted me! Kate, of all people! She was my team mate!"

A house was coming into view a quarter of a mile away. All of my stress had disappeared and suddenly turned to giddiness. With Emmett here, everything would be fine. Even if we didn't get along perfectly, I wouldn't have to run away. Em was my mate, and I would stay with him no matter what.

We broke into a run, racing each other to the property line. I got there first, my newborn strength still running through my veins, but Emmett was just behind me. He crashed into me and we fell to the ground, a rolling pile of laughter.

"Having fun?" A female voice rang out from the door. When I looked, there was a beautiful small woman standing in the door frame, beautiful long, brown, curly lock of hair going down to her waist. 

We quickly got up as she ran over to shake our hands. "I'm Carmen," She introduced herself, "You must be y/n. Emmett, a pleasure."
"Of course it is when I'm here," He joked, and I slapped him on the arm.

"Hi, it's so nice to meet you." I shook her hand, giving her the warmest smile possible.

Her face went blank, she nodded and in a bland tone said "Nice to meet you too,". Then she shook her head and looked panicked.

"Shit, I'm so sorry, it's my gift. I wasn't doing it on purpose." I apologized.

"You can hypnotize people?" She asked, amaed.

Em answered for me. "Only when they use their charming face. He made a stupid chldish seductive face which got a laugh out of all of us. "So where are the others?" He asked.

As if on cue, A man and three women came gliding out of the house. All of the girls had blond hair, two of them with curls, and the man having very short dark brown hair. He was by far the tallest one there, but by no means tall. probably 5'11, while Emmett was 6'5. To be fair though, Emmett was very tall, and very muscular.

""Y/N, this is Eleazer, then Irina, Kate, and Tanya," Emmett said, pointing out each one as he said their names, "Guys, this is y/n."

"Hi everyone," I said shyly, "It's really nice to meet you." The nerves from before were coming back, not very strong but still there. Emmett sensed my agitation and put his arms around my waist, calming me instantly. Who was he, Jasper?

We were welcomed inside, Eleazar fanning over my gift.

"So you can only hypnotize people when you smile?" He asked, marveled.

"Well, sort of. I just have to act sweet or seductive or something. I try not to use it too often," I said shyly.

Emmett whispered in my ear, sensing I was a little confused on how he found out about my gift.

"He can sense other people's gifts. It was really useful to the Volturi at one point."

"The vamp cops," I corrected him.

"The vamp cops," He repeated. We both smiled at each other and continued on the tour of the house. 

After the tour, our guests sat us down on the couch and made conversation. They were a lot kinder than I thought they'd be, and I found myself enjoying their company. Tanya asked if anyone else was going to be visiting, and I smirked at Emmett, remembering her crush on Edward. The one thing that was making me curious was Kate.

"So," I started, "You can electrocute people?"

"Yeah, it used to be just my palms, but now I can electrocute anyone who touches me." Kate said, proud.

"What does it feel like?" I asked, "I've never been zapped before."

She stretched her hand out, offering to zap me. "I'll put it on a low setting... to start."

I smiled and leaned over to connect with her. Emmett grabbed my other arm and gave me a warning look, but I shrugged him off, too curious to care. 

As soon as we made contact, I felt an electric current pulsing through me, paralyzing my body. It took all of my effort to not fall to the floor, twitching. Kate removed her hand from mine as Em pulled me away and on to his lap. 

"Exilerating" I breathed, as everyone laughed. 

We chatted for a little while longer, and then went hunting for the night, in the cool air. Since it was a different environment and ecosystem, I got to have a cub. Irina and Carmen looked at me oddly for a little bit, but when I convinced them to try it they both agreed with me that it was so much sweeter and better than the adults. Tanya, Kate, and Eleazar loooked a little weirded out, but didn't contradict me.

We stayed for the weekend, playing games, talking and taking turns showing each other our gifts (Kate electrocuted me five more times). I charmed Kate, Tanya, Eleazar, and Carmen, but Irina looked unsure, so I didn't try it on her. It made the day very tiring, but it was just a couple of days with my cousins, so I pushed through.

Sunday evening, it was time to go. We said our goodbyes, taking turns hugging each person, sometimes twice. 

Waving goodbye, we ran into the forest, towards our home.
