Vampire Cops

Throughout the week Emmett stuck to me like glue. I knew that he was worried about what had happened, but what's done is done, and I can't unkill or rekill my parents. Still, he kind of acted as my body guard, offering to come with me everywhere I went so I could never be alone. I loved him, but I needed my alone time as well. At one point I decided that I would confront him. We were in our bedroom, fishing through Alice's new clothes she bought for us.

"So I'm thinking of just confessing to the Volturi just to get away from you,"

He rolled his eyes. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

I stopped looking through the new belts and faced Emmett. "I don't know what you think I'm going to do, but I'm a thousand times more likely to do it if you try and stop me in such a stupid way,"

He smiled at the floor. "You're reasoning makes so little sense."

"And you love me for it." I grinned and wrapped my arms around his neck. "Why don't we look at the rest of the clothes another time?" I said, pulling myself closer to him.

"I thought you wanted to get away from me?" He asked, trying to pull away.

I locked my arms and brought him even closer. "Not right now though," I smiled and kissed him. He lifted me slightly and swung me out of the pile of clothes.

Time skip to the morning after because writing smut makes me uncomfortable

We finished putting away all of the clothes in the morning, and I left Em to go hunting all alone. I needed the peace and quiet, away from everyone else. I kept using my Gift to get everyone to leave me alone or forget something I said, just tiny little things, and it built up to me being almost constantly tired. Plus, I hadn't gone hunting in a week, and the close proximity to humans got me really thirsty.

"Stay away from the Quileute's territory," Emmett said, before he left.

"Why's that?" I asked.

He looked at me as if I said something stupid. "The treaty? he one where they said they'd kill us if we crossed their territory?"

"Fuck, really?" I laughed, "And they think they can stop us? Are they vampires too?"

"Werewolves, actually," I stopped laughing. "Technically, we would've broken the treaty when I bit you, but they were too scared to cause a fight. They're only one or two."

I nodded. "You can explain it to me later, but I'm going to find some cubs. Love you."

I ran for an hour, trying to get the most distance as possible from everyone else. I didn't know exactly where I was going, so Alice wouldn't even be able to track me. I found a mama bear with a couple of cubs next to a tree, and started with the adult. I'd rather get over the bad tasting ones before going to the... let's call it dessert.

I sat down next to the carcasses to breathe in the fresh air for a second, thinking about the actual act of it. Unlike when I was human, it didn't feel like a relief when I breathed. Carlisle had told me on the first day as a vampire that I technically could hold my breath for an infinite amount of time, but that most of us do it to talk, to seem normal, or just out of habit. I tried to hold my breath just to see if it was true, and felt nothing. It was a little uncomfortable, but I had no need to breathe. I counted five, ten, fifteen minutes, just looking around and counting.

"Get up and come with me!" Alice's sing-song type of voice scared me and made me lose focus.

"Goddammit how did you find me?" I yelled, getting up and brushing my clothes off.

"I saw you planning to eat the cubs. We have visitors," She said.

A lone thought ran through my mind.

The fucking vampire cops.
