The rest of the night went smoothly, and Emmett found me a couple baby animals to drink, but told me I wouldn't be allowed to eat them all the time. We had to worry about the ecological effect we had on our ecosystem. He let me take an old grizzly we had found, while he went off to find a deer. It was okay, but I definitely preferred the little ones. It was like comparing ice cream to a sandwich. Both were good, and one definitely was better for me, but it wasn't the one I wanted.

Emmett came back, talking about how awful he thought the fawns tasted, and then we raced home.

Carlisle broke the news to me that I wouldn't be allowed to go back to school, or go out in public even, because it was too risky for people to notice how much I've changed. They had already staged my death, and everyone had to go to the funeral, except for Emmett, who's excuse was that he felt so terrible about being mean to me that he couldn't handle being at the funeral. Jasper had thought it was a good idea to keep the strongest one home to protect me from hurting anyone, and I was more that willing to be alone with Emmett.

The rest of the Cullen's left in the Volvo, the most subtle car we owned, to avoid all the attention. We said goodbye to them, and I turned to sit on the couch, ready for a day of relaxing. It didn't matter whether I was a vampire or not, or if I was mentally or physically exhausted, I just needed a day to chill.

Emmett came into the room, all the way up to me, and stuck his hand out, asking me to take it.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Well, we have day alone, where Edward can mind his own business, so I thought we could finish our deal we made last night."

He was talking about the date. "You weren't joking?"

He rolled his eyes. "Yes, I was joking. I came up to you, asked you to come with me on a date, which, by the way, I have never done before, begged Edward for permission to use a spot he likes, set it all up, just to tell you I didn't want to take you out." Ah sarcasm. What a wonderful thing.

"I didn't know you did all that," I murmured, "If not, my wardrobe wouldn't be the same."

Emmett took his hand back for a second to show off his attire, and do a little spin. He was wearing jeans, a white tank top and a zip up hoodie, almost the same thing he was wearing the first day at school.

"Now that you know this is a casual attire event," he continued, "can I take you before Alice gets bored and tries to find out what we're doing?"

I sat there for a second, rolled my eyes, and took his hand. He led me out to the forest, before making us take our shoes off (I didn't know why, he just said it was going to improve the date), then over the small river that was behind the house, and kept running for a few minutes, until we entered a small field. I couldn't see anything in that field, because of the blinding sunlight.

How the fuck were the others supposed to go to an outside funeral?

Seeing my thought process through my expressions, Emmett grabbed my shoulder.

"Alice checked, and it isn't sunny in Forks. We're a little further than them, and there won't be clouds for a while."

And with that, he tried to take a step into the sun. Now, it was my turn to grab him.

"What do you think you're doing? We can't go into the sun, can we?"

He just chuckled, took my hand, and led me out into the field.

With a little resistance, my right foot stepped into the sun. I was fully prepared to burn to death or some shit, but instead, my toes started to sparkle. It looked like a hundred diamonds were glued to my skin, reflecting the sunlight in a million different directions.
