Inside the rough-hewn stone walls of one of the old towers of hellgate, in a small dimly lit room were two of the most revolting and barbaric people of Ketterdam. The ravenous merchant and the snake.
Jan van eck even though in prison seemed to be wearing a suit with a cold expression, was sitting across Tante Heleen who was thinking of the deal he had just offered her.
"Fine." She grunted, after a while. A cold smile crept slowly on the merchant's face.
"It's settled then." He said, as he straightened his tie. One would be surprised as to how he was treated in prison, He was surely favored and had bribed almost all the guards. Though what Tante found the most amusing was how he was wearing a suit in a place like hellgate and wondered how much he had been paying the guards.
"And I hope to have my kruge given to me as soon as our work is done. If not, I will shred you into pieces." Tante said, "Both, your business and you."
Van eck laughed at her threat though she had made a joke making, "Sure."
"Are you trying to make a fool of me?" Tante asked in her shrill voice as she got up and looked at Van eck, "My spy burnt down the crow club, Kaz Brekker's place. The same individual that has made your business down fall and is responsible for why you are in here. I did it."
"He played it well, yes. Ah dirtyhands and his filthy little crows." Jan van eck spat, "But I am gonna get my revenge. I am already a step ahead of them."
"Yea?" Tante scoffed, "Well the two girls you want me to help you find and torture seem to be with him now."
"Yes, I know." Van eck said as he rubbed his temples, "Cain told me. I had a chance to take them with me at the ball but turns out the crows had trained them and they had a quite powerful squaller with them which made it hard for my men to catch them but now we have a better plan."
"Yea and you have me now. So obviously it will be better." Tante drawled, as she smiled tightly.
"Don't think I trust you even at the slightest. " Van eck said calmly.
"You shouldn't." Tante agreed as she nodded and got out of his cell, which was more of a comfortable room.

They all stood by the harbour, the crisp air sending chills down their spine. All their hard work was burned to nothing, but they were determined to rise again. They would always bleed a little more.
Matthias was adjusting the anchor of the ship, pulling it sideways, while Daphne and Zephyr were flattening out the sails. Jesper was checking the Helm, turning it around, and Wylan was inserting bombs inside the Hulls, they might have to need it anytime. Inej laid out all the weaponery, food and clothes evenly, as to not disturb the weightage.
Nina was already sitting inside, laying out beds for the others.
Kaz and the girls stood beside each other.
Lynn passed a glance at Kaz, whose gaze was fixed at the sundown, the hint of a smile whispering at his lips.
"I missed the misery of wanting things" he uttered, as Vivienne and Lynn blankly nodded
"So the ma-"
"My dearest Vivienne, my light in the darkest of days"
"Oh hell naw"
Cain tiptoed towards Vivienne, putting his arm around her
"Might you explain as to why you called me gremlin?" Lynn gritted her teeth as both Cain and Vivienne grinned at her, even Kaz bit his lip at that.
"Why are you here?" asked Vivienne, looking up at him
"I" he stepped forward infront of them, blocking the view of the sunset as they all grumbled "What? I am the view. So, thing is-"
"Thing is that you work for Van Eck and your dad is crazy and you want to kill us?" Vivienne completed his sentence
Cain took a pause at that "Uh- you are partially correct my loveliest but," he dragged along his words "But I have a very fair deal for you all"
"What is it?"
"I accompany you to Hellgate. You get trapped by Van Eck and my Dad. I help you get out, if you let me accompany you all along and provide you any help I can"
"Yeah nice joke"
"He would kill you, you know"
"Not if I am accompanied by the most dangerous of the Dregs" Cain's eyes glistened at Kaz's crow cane, at which he quickly put it behind his back
"So, what do you say?" Cain lousily walked around them eyeing Vivienne's coat as if it were dirt.
