They both sat by the long, concrete table at the school library. A dark and stormy atmosphere, perfect for imagining creative escapades and epic adventures for the dreamers.

All Lynn and Vivi could do was watch as the rain pattered through the glass windows, the dreadful noises of heavy traffic and the blaring police cars. There was a protest happening that particular evening, causing a havoc in town. It would usually be tranquil and cozy at Fairview, with it's small population and conservative minds.

The girls had been waiting for hours, with no success of going back home, and the school buses had to be stopped due to traffic. Vivienne groaned impatiently, breaking the restful silent earning a stern look from the librarian which she ignored.

Lynn looked at her friend over from the book she was reading, Vivienne was now slouching on the arm chair, slurping her coffee rather noisily and murmuring incoherent words to herself.

"What's got you sulking about?" Lynn asked to her friend, who sighed running her hands through her dark hair

"It's just, I don't want to go home" Vivienne said, fiddling with the straw in her coffee mug which was now empty, causing a string of clinky noises.  She stopped, then sighed again and added, "But i also do."

Lynn stared at Vivienne, raising her brows signaling her to go on. The girl opened her mouth to speak but couldn't come up with words that could describe the way she was feeling so she clamped her mouth shut and simply shrugged.

Lynn bit on her lower lip as though debating on something for a moment, then shut the book she was reading and turned to her friend giving Vivienne her full attention.

"It's about your dad, isn't it?" She asked and she could tell she was right by the Vivi had avoided her gaze and stared at her shoes instead. "Well?" she pressed on.

"Kind of" Vivienne admitted, still not meeting her gaze. She didn't like thinking of her father, let alone talk about him. It was not like they had the worst relationship but talking about him always made her upset, "I- it's just, well he has just changed so much in the past few years. We barely talk and when we do it doesn't go well. So, home won't be pleasant."

Lynn smiled at her friend, which she hoped looked comforting and awkward and sympathetic, "Well, I am sure it will be nice with your mum and sister around."

"One can hope." Vivienne murmured, stifling a yawn. "I am so tired, I may doze off if i keep my eyes shut for more than a minute."

"Well, we did stay up all night for a couple of days, preparing for our finals. I am quite tired too." Lynn said, glancing at their backpacks which were placed a few steps beside them.

Their examinations were finally done and it was the last day of school followed by fall break.  Vivi and Lynn, were escorted to their homes by a school staff Mrs Grey, who had been their escort for the past four years and was quite familiar with both the girls

"Where the hell is Mrs Grey? We have been here for like an hour now" Vivienne complained, "Not that I mind being in the library and reading but the new librarian won't stop staring at me all creepily."

"Maybe because you act the way you do."

"I am just gonna assume she is in love with me, enemies into lovers arc lo and behold" Vivienne whisper shouted dramatically as she glanced at the librarian who was already staring at her with an annoyed expression. Vivi smiled at the old lady who rolled her eyes making the girl scoff and feign hurt. Lynn pressed her lips into a thin line, nodding.

"I'm sure that's just one of her acts to force herself to hate but is actually helplessly in love with me." Vivienne huffed, as she once again slumped back into the velvet armchair as she drummed her fingers on its side rest impatiently.
