Zephyr tapped his fingers impatiently on the brim of his teacup, as he ran his hands through his hair sighing. The small bell of the pub's entryway ringed and he once again turned to look at the guests, only to be have his worry pike up more as it wasn't the girl with lavender hair.
"Can i get a refill?" Zephyr said roughly pushing his glass over to the bartender, who quietly refilled his tea.
Zephyr had almost gotten caught, when Tante entered and suddenly the drunk man started blubbering about how Zephyr had been going through her desk. He thought he was a dead man when Tante glared at him, but he somehow managed to shrug innocently which somehow Tante bought and scolded the man instead and pushed him out her office. It wasn't much a struggle to get out, but he was worried about Vivienne. He wasn't worried about her being alone with a man, he was sure that she would punch him in the nuts if he tried to do touch her but rather worried about how she would manage to escape.
He was so immersed in his thought he didn't even notice when someone sat beside him. He flinched with his entire body when they tapped on his shoulder.
"Jesus, christ. It's just me."
Zephyr turned to look at Vivienne, who was now beside him pulling up her soft purple hair into a bun as she smiled at him. He sighed in relief at her sight.
"Are you alright?" Zeph asked softly as he spotted a bruise mark on her arm then felt a pang hit his chest, "Did he do that?"
"No, I got that when escaping from the window, it was quite high and the rope i made out of the sheets wasn't quite sturdy but thankfully lasted more than halfway so I kind of had to jump. Well clearly I don't seem to be so smooth with landings." Vivienne said as she glanced at the bruise, Zephyr nodded.
"What about that man. . " Zephyr started, observing her ripped harems, "Did he do anything wrong.?"
"Well, he was quite disgusting. Made me feel somehow inferior to him." Vivienne said as she then smirked, "Wanted me to rip his clothes but I ripped his chest apart."
Zephyr let out a soft chuckle shaking his head, and Vivienne found herself smiling along as she observed him. The way his lips twitched, the small beauty mark on his lower lips, the way he shook his head and then took a sip of his tea still smiling and the way his adam's apple bobbed. Vivienne felt her entire body flush, as she looked away.
Zephyr paid for his tea, as they both got out of the pub. Zephyr casually slipped out of his brown long coat and handed it to Vivienne. Vivienne let out a thanks as she put it on, it was a little oversized, and she liked how it felt. And it smelled just like him. Tea and petrichor.
Lynn and the rest of the crows were huddled up together, side by side in a tight knit circle. The heavy silence hung in the air as they could do nothing but pass comforting glances at each other. The Crow Club, where they had all began on their journey, was now stored as nothing but a mere memory, its physicality nothing but mere ashes.
Jesper sniffled a sob, as Wylan reached out a comforting hand to his back
"My shotguns and rifles, The loves of my life" he muttered as Wylan rolled his eyes but gently patted his back.
Matthias kept looking at the ground, remembering all the times they all sat together, planning thievary and chaos. Although morally corrupted, they were all a family, with different values but the same depth of love and trust for each other. The Crows, as one would romanticise them, their embarkment was now just filth.
Lynn could only bow her head in guilt as Nina rendered her arm and changed back her hair.
Inej sympathically looked at Kaz. For a minute, her mind went back 3 years ago, Kaz selling the Crow Club to Heleen for her freedom and nothing else.
Would he have been grieving the same way then, if he had lost it all? she thought, glancing at Kaz who showed no expression on his face as always.
Kaz was the first one to speak out amongst them all.
"I know who it is."
They all looked up at once to him, Kaz was back to Dirtyhands. The look of venangence in his eyes said it all.
"Greetings" Daphne walked in all of a sudden, diverting all their attention onto him "Heard there was a fire?"
"Yeah. A fire that basically destroyed a home" Lynn scowled at him
"They should have stabbed your mouth instead."
"Are you alright?" Inej asked Daphne, who looked worn out. His sleeves from the crumpled shirt were rolled up messily, and he looked beyond exhausted.
"Yeah, I was fighting the other gangs. I need to sleep." he muttered drowsily as he lay amongst a pile of haystacks, sighing.
"Wow. He looks deceased" remarked Nina "So much better" nodded Lynn
"Let Vivienne and Zephyr arrive, and I shall tell you about the plan. Nina, did you bring the coats?"
"Yes sir"
"Matthias, food and a ship?"
"You cruel demjin, making me steal others food a-"
"Inej?"
"I have the herbs"
"Jesper"
"You have all the weapons you have possibly thought of, mister."
"Wylan?"
"The bombs are ready."
"Good. Now all we do is wait for them both."
"I ripped a man's chest open!" Vivienne just then chimed in
"Speak of the devil" grinned Lynn "That's some girl boss behavior"
"I love the term girl boss!" gasped Nina "And are you wearing Zeph's coat?" smirked Lynn "And do you want me to rip your chest open?"
"Now that you both are here, the plan." said Kaz, laying out a map of Hellgate. "This is where it begins. . ."
