(S1-C9) The Final Straw

City Hall - Parking Lot 5:10 PM

Right after Marshall collapsed, Ryder picked up the injured Dalmatian and put him on the passenger seat his ATV said.

Marshall was bleeding from his side, but from a quick glance, the bullet seemed to only cut through his fur and flesh and didn't get lodged, but even then, the poor pup was still bleeding, and it's possible the quick glance wasn't good enough to say for sure if the bullet didn't get lodged or not.

"Pups, we need to get to Katie's. Chase, Rocky, I need you two to go ahead and tell Katie that Marshall needs immediate medical attention and might need surgery."

"Got it Ryder." The two of them replied, pulling ahead of Ryder and out of the City Hall's parking lot.

"Now then, I need to get Marshall to Katie's and then tell the rest of the pups and Rebecca that they need to get down to Katie's too." Ryder thought to himself, focused on the short drive ahead.

                     Katie's Clinic - 5:12 PM

By now, Chase and Rocky had reached Katie's clinic, parking their vehicles quickly in the parking lot as they jumped out and ran to the door, knocking as fast as they could to get her attention.

Katie had been reading a book with Cali to relax while the rain poured outside when she heard a series of knocks on the front door.

Getting up and putting her book down, she took Cali off of her lap and rubbed her head as she looked to the door. "Cali, stay here. I'm going to check and see who's at the door."

Walking to the door, she looked down to see both Chase and Rocky at the door, panicked looks on their faces.

Opening the door, she spoke to Chase and Rocky. "What's going on you two?"

"I know what's going on, it's wet out here." Rocky said, trying to break the silence a bit and re establish that he doesn't like getting wet.

Chase stepped forward, shaking the rain out of his fur as he responded, picking up for Rocky who was too focused on being wet right now. "Well me, Marshall, Rocky and Ryder were at City Hall on a mission, it was a more dangerous one and one of the hostiles ended up shooting Marshall in the chest. Ryder is on his way with him right now."

"I see, I'll get the emergency area ready. Does Ryder know if any bullets are lodged in Marshall's flesh?"

"He took a quick glance to check, but he can't say for sure. We do know he definitely needs immediate medical attention though."

This instantly put a lot of thoughts through Katie's head. "Maybe Marshall needs surgery? Has Ryder told the others? How will the town react? City Hall was just attacked and one of the Paw Patrol are critically injured." Shaking these thoughts off, Katie looked down the road to see Ryder driving his ATV toward the clinic, Marshall was visible on the passenger seat of the ATV, the Dalmatian's eyes closed as he breathed slowly but somewhat strained.

                   Katie's Clinic 5:13 PM

As soon as Ryder reached Katie's clinic, he stopped immediately in the parking lot and jumped off of his ATV, ignoring the pouring rain as he picked up the injured Marshall, who was slowly opening his eyes again.
