Hey guys, welcome to chapter 17 of Blazing Avalanche! It's been a little while since I've done an Authors Note at the start of a chapter for Blazing Avalanche, but I feel like it's needed for this one with the content in this chapter and the next few. Regarding that, the Frozen Fire trilogy has always featured blood, vicious fighting, and swearing in a Paw Patrol setting, but here in this chapter, I'm writing about one of the very real problems in the world we live in every single day. Puppy mills. They are an important part of the next few chapters, but I feel like I have to talk a bit about them here. Puppy mills are commercial breeding facilities that subject dogs to absolutely horrific living conditions to churn out a lot of puppies for profit, such as malnutrition, cramped cages, being given little to no protection from the weather, and more often than not, the food and water they are given is unsanitary beyond belief. They are an extremely serious and real problem, and I don't want to write about them without talking about what they are and warning all of you that the puppy mills themselves and the way dogs are treated in them will be mentioned in the next few chapters so that you're all aware. I don't support puppy mills at all and I strongly believe that all animals should be treated properly, whether that's to become product we use like a cow, pig, chicken, etc, or a lovable family pet like a dog or cat. That's all from me for now, enjoy this chapter of Blazing Avalanche! It had been a few hours since the team of five pups left Adventure Bay, Scarlet had continued to fly the helicopter, and the Beagle noticed that Thunder and Snow, and the two pups she knew as Hurricane and Flame had all fallen asleep relatively recently, probably to rest up before the first mission in a while and what she assumed to be Hurricane and Flame's first mission. They also slept in their gear while they slept. Scarlet was outfitted in lime green, purple and black camo gear as well as a revolver and throwing knives. However, she has always been more of a scout and pilot than a fighter, especially as compared to Thunder and Snow.
The calm lights of Barkingburg, and the light sounds of the helicopter's blades slicing through the air, felt strangely serene. Despite that serenity Scarlet knew it was only a matter of time before they would be able to act on plans to fight back they had been coming up with ever since they escaped from Ruben and Butch as a team of three, but because they once were a small team of three, the small operations they did embark on all failed and nearly led to their deaths. "We can finally take on the monsters who have wronged us in our lives now that Hurricane and Flame are on our side," Scarlet thought to herself as she focused on landing the helicopter in Barkingburg safely to avoid crashing the team's only helicopter.
The helipad Scarlet had planned to land at before the mission started was visible a few minutes later. As Scarlet landed the helicopter, she called out, "Helipad in sight, coming in for a landing." Not realizing the other pups were still asleep immediately, Scarlet said this out loud.
Once the helicopter landed, the young Beagle jumped out of the helicopter as the other pups began waking up as she heard footsteps coming up to the helipad from the nearby flight of stairs.
Barking out her revolver as she listened to the footsteps, she aimed it at whoever or whatever was approaching from the stairs. "Arf! Revolver!" she yelled.
When Scarlet aimed her weapon, the light of a flashlight attached to a weapon shined on her eyes as she noticed an AK-47 that the flashlight was attached to aimed at her as the pup wielding the rifle spoke to her, a red dot sight flicking onto Scarlet's chest to show where the pup was aiming. "What the hell are you doing landing a helicopter here? This is a restricted area of Barkingburg for civilians." The pup said, stepping forward to reveal they were in Barkingburg police gear.
Scarlet hesitated to answer for a split second. She had flown by this landing zone before and had seen other civilian aircraft land here. Even though that happened a few weeks ago, surely nothing extreme has happened in Barkingburg since then?
