Raya The Next Day
"So y'all still haven't said anything to each other??" "Nope," I answered by popping the P. Asia stared at me for a moment before shaking her head in disbelief. "Girl what the hell if you don't talk to that man." I shook my head 'no' and continued to seal the package I was finishing up. After last night's fiasco, Asia and Naomi agreed to help me send off all my orders. It was pages and pages of orders so I knew the best way to convince them to come out was through food and gossip. I hated it had to be my gossip, but I had to do what I had to do. "Asia what exactly would I be saying to him?" "Maybe a sincere apology for starters," Naomi finally added in her two cents. She's been mainly quiet from stuffing her face with buffalo wings. "First of all my apology was sincere and second, I hope you're not getting your saucy ass fingers all over these people's items," I snatched the plate from her and passed her a roll of paper towels. She gave me a stare so evil I could've shivered. "Raya Simone if you don't put my fucking plate back you gonna be begging Chris to come save your ass!" I wrinkled my nose up at her.
"Ew, you must be having a girl. Got yo ass mean as hell," I slid the plate back to her and she accepted with a pleasant smile.
"No, that gotta be a boy because I was mean as fuck with Mario, but the way my baby daddy did me he deserved ever bit of my mean streak," Asia said rolling her eyes. "What do you want to have," I asked Naomi just trying to change the subject altogether. "I really want a girl. A little mini me, but August wants a boy since he's been raising nothing but girls. I'll be happy with whatever though. I'm just excited to meet them," she rubbed her stomach. Asia and I both smiled. I came over to rub her stomach growing lost in my own personal thoughts. "I miss him," I whined. "Well please talk to him sis," Naomi urged. "I can't," I shook my head. "You know how stubborn I am and he really hurt my feelings." "You both did, but ignoring each other certainly won't progress this any further. Just call him Raya." "I hope someone is urging Chris's case as much as you all are with mine. It takes two to communicate. I don't see him in a hurry to contact me." "Raya are you serious," Asia asked giving me a dull stare. "No offense honey, but this kinda started with you. Let's not forget. I'm not saying he wasn't wrong, but you definitely played a vital role to the madness." "Yeah well he finished it so he should reach out first." They rolled their eyes at me and said nothing else getting back to what they were doing. Call me childish, but shit he made me cry so he really needs to be the first to talk to me. Whenever Danny and I argued no matter who was right or wrong he would always apologize first. I feel like men should always take the initiative to make sure their women are okay. No matter how much I miss him, I need to know he's really for my heart.
Christopher
I checked my phone for what felt like the 100th time today. My mind's been playing tricks on me having me believe my phone was vibrating, but I couldn't be anymore wrong. Nothing. Even when it was, it would always be an email or someone I wasn't trying to hear from. I've been at work all day catching up on paperwork as well as my to do list. Work has always been the greatest distraction for me so when shit goes wrong I just engulf myself in productivity to make me feel less shitty. I wasn't happy with how the conversation with Raya and I went last night. Although I was very upset with the situation as a whole I shouldn't have said the things I said to her. I've been wanting to apologize, but I also wanted to give her a little space. "Knock, knock," Lorraine poked her head through my office door. "Were you busy?" "Not too much, what's up," I asked. "I just got the membership enrollment list and I just thought I'd personally deliver this to you," she slid a folder over to my side of my desk. I opened it, inspecting the material presented. I couldn't stop my smile from spreading as I looked at our results. "45% increase Chris?! That's major dude," Lorraine spoke as she soon as she seen me smile. "We're taking off!" "Wow, Lo this is really good news. I needed this today." "I'm glad I could put that smile on your face. When I walked in you seemed so down. Everything okay," she asked in a softer tone. "Yeah everything's all good. I just get deep in my work sometimes," I told her. Confiding in another woman with my relationship issues is one mistake I would never make. Plus, although Raya didn't straight up say it I know she's feeling some type of way about Lorraine. I don't need those problems right now, I haven't even made her mine officially yet. "Alriiiight," she said seeming not convinced. "You know if you need me for anything I'm here. You took a chance on me and placed me in a position most people wouldn't so I'm grateful for that and you." "It's nothing Lo. You have what it takes and the proof is already showing that. I appreciate you though." She nodded rising from the chair. "Thank you again boss man. I gotta get back to my side of the tracks. Nathan's been losing his shit since I pulled off the parking lot." "Do you think he'll be able handle being a manager?" "Yeah he'll be just fine. See you later," she asked. I nodded. She smiled before sashaying away. I made sure to keep my head down until she was completely out of the door. I'm no fool, I know Lorraine is a very beautiful woman with a banging ass body, but my heart is with Ry no matter what. I have had my past and I don't need it repeating itself, so in whatever way I could avoid temptation I'm going to do it. It's not hard though. I know who and what I want. Speaking of which I can't handle being on bad terms with her so I have to call her as soon as I get home tonight. I decided with the good news received today, I've worked enough for the day. I finished up what I was working on at a good stopping point, straightened up my desk, locked up the office, and went on my way. Nia called as soon as I was walking out. "Wassup," I answered. "Where are you?" "Leaving work." "Oh thank God," she sighed in relief. "Can you please pick up Ro from gymnastics? Her instructor left me a voicemail like 20 minutes ago saying Royalty has thrown up and looks pale. I'm on my way, but stuck in traffic."
