The next morning, I pull on my parka and zip up. I ransacked the place, but we're out of food. Seeing that Rose is on house arrest, I'm the only one that can go out to buy groceries.

Shutting the door, my boots crunch in the snow as I trek to the local grocer. I step in, the bell ringing merrily as I shut the door. I brush off and unzip my coat, then head to the fruit aisle and pick up some apples and oranges, (imported from the Air Nation), and some lettuce and carrotomatoes for tonight. I also go to the deli area and pick up some bread and sandwich meat. I run into no-one, the exception being the cashier who gives me a questionable glance before ringing my things up. I spot a pack of colouring pencils and throw them in too; maybe Rose will take up sketching again.

By the time I return home, Rose has gotten up and is laying on the couch, using her shadows to pick up marbles and then throwing them across the room in hopes of scoring it into a basket.

Seeing me come in with food, she gets up and hustles back into her room. She's been doing everything in hopes to avoid eating.

I wash up an apple and peel the oranges and whip up two servings of fruit salad, drizzling it with maple syrup for sweetness. I set mine on the table, and then walk over and knock on Rose's door.

The heavy rock music that had been streaming loudly from a record player inside stops.

"What?" Rose calls.

"Open up, I've got breakfast." I call back.
