Wendy pulls me away from Rose. "Is your friend always that angry?" she hisses.
"No, no," I reply. "She's gone through a lot this past year. You must understand."
She nods.
Evan paces beside us, staring at his feet, his hands in his pockets. "Hey!" Wendy chirps in her usual manner at him.
"Who are you." Evan drawls out dully.
"My name is Gwen!" she says, holding out her hand. "And you are..."
He sighs. "Evan."
"Pleasure to meet you, Evan!" Wendy says briskly.
"Sure. You too," Evan says.
Wendy's unanswered hand wordlessly drops to her side.
Our feet press into the snow below, and big fluffy flakes rain down. My eyes glance up to find a candy shop. I beckon Evan. "Let's go in here."
Wendy's eyes light up and even Evan seems to grin. We enter, and quickly brush ourselves off.
I tap them both on the back. "Just chill in here, I have to make a short delivery."
They nod.
I exit the shop quietly, and hustle over to a mailbox, and I slip in Rose's appeal letter to the Council. I look up only to see some beast charging me.
I turn and run. My heart beats faster and faster, until I hear a familiar voice yell after me. "Nathan! It's Rose!"
Oops.
I turn, only for Luna to pounce on me.
