I pace back and forth around the small room, muttering angry things under my breath. My automail makes a creaking sound each time a move, making me even more irritated.

What an asshole. Pshhh... Avatar. Me? That doesn't make any sense, I think angrily.

Gwen abruptly comes in, startling me slightly. She offers a sheepish smile, setting a tray of food on the bed. She also sets down a can of oil, with a tube like mouth to where it can be easily applied. I give her a questioning look.

"Nathan brought some, just in case you needed a uhh... oil change," she says awkwardly.

My face flushes red from embarrassment. I can tell I've always been humiliated about my automail. And here I am, in shorts and a T-shirt with them fully exposed. I feel like some machine or robot that needed an oil change. In fact, I kind of am.

"Thanks," I mumble, carefully applying the oil into the openings of my metallic limbs. I can already feel how easier it is to move them.

Gwen watches me work thoughtfully. "I'm sorry Nathan is being such a dick. He was so stressed out about you for so long, he's just a bit touchy right now."

"Yeah, well, tell him acting like a dick won't make his any bigger," I snap furiously.

She just laughs, like whatever I said was funny. I shoot her a glare.

She opens her mouth to say something, but doesn't get the chance. We both hear Evan and Nathan walk in, arguing as always.

"Not fair! You put ice in that water blow," Nathan growls.

"What? Last time a checked, the only rule was no blood bending!"

"Still, that was a nasty move!"

"Quit being a sore loser."

"Get over yourself."

Gwen exits the room and calms them down. I just eat quietly, staring at the white sheets of the bed in which I sit on. I listen to their voices in silence.

"How's the princess doing?" Evan says sarcastically.

Princess?

"Yeah, I'm surprised she hasn't annoyed us any more yet," Nathan replied dully. I grit my teeth.

Oh, sure, because putting up a fight when someone abducts you is extremely bothersome.

"Don't be so mean! Imagine how scary it would be to not remember anything, and then have a group of strange people tell her she's the avatar and abduct her!" Gwen growls.

There's an awkward silence. I play with my long hair as a nervous habit.
