I chuckled softly.
I can't have her thinking like this... She'll destroy herself from the inside out.
I cradle her in my arms. "You know, you can tell me anything," I whisper softly. "I can help..."
Rose looks at me with no sense of registration on her face. 'No, you can't,' her eyes seem to whisper. She just rests her head against my chest and seems to hover there for a minute before she blinks and continues. "We can't hide here forever, you know."
"It'll do for now-"
"I can't take this anymore!" she says. "You and Gwen and Evan go around thinking everything's fine and dandy. It's NOT!" her eyes flash, waves of purple swirling. "Out there in the Earth Kingdom they're trying to decide whether to wage war on my father! You don't know him like I do. You see what I did at Ganshan? I'm telling you, the Fire Nation still considers me a priority! I've known it from the start and I'm a coward to hide, but what else is there to do? I'm basically an empty soul walking around in a wooden box. No-one should care if I die! Forget that, they'd be happy if I were dead! I my as well just kill myself!"
I shush her before she can say anything else. "I'd still care. And you're father does too!If he didn't care why would he make you kill all those people back in the Earth territory!"
Rose growls at me.
"That came out wrong..."
Rose stalks away, turning on her heel and ignoring my desperate cries for forgiveness.
"I'm sorry Rose! Come back-"
And she turns the corner and slams the door with a BANG!
