Rose's eyes meet mine, and a wave of anger rushes up to greet her. My gaze instinctively flicks downward, but it lands on my wrist, focusing on my watch.
It's 9:55.
We've got 5 minutes until check-out.
I see Wendy has notices too, and I rush to my feet. "Five minutes 'til check-out, people," I say loudly. "Let's oust our butts out of here."
"We're leaving?" Evan asks.
"Yup. Let's clear out." Gwen responds. She walks to the sink and opens the tap. Water comes sliding out, and she accepts all of it, moving it gracefully around her. "I'll pack Evan and Rose's things," she says casually. "You two, rest. The hangovers must be mind-wrenching."
As I walk past Evan's room to get to mine, I see Gwen's water rushing into drawers, grabbing clothes and shoving them in backpacks. I look in, but Gwen's not there. Turning back, I realize Gwen's still in the kitchen. Her eyes are closed, and her soft hands flow around herself as she controls three streams that flow into her room, Rose's room and Evan's. She's packing all three simultaneously. She is, in fact the best waterbender here. Her control over water is unbelievable.
I walk quickly to my room and start packing. 2 minutes later, my backpack is full. I walk out to join the others, and we quickly check out.
"Where to now?" Rowan asks.
"To wherever you came from," I reply. "Rose has an earthbending teacher she considers a father, right?"
"How do you know that?"
"She talks in her sleep sometimes. "
"Oh, okay."
"Lead us there."
