I stare at them blankly, not really caring what they say. Luna trots over to me, tilting her head. She's probably realizing I'm just an empty shell of her owner. I'm about to walk in the house, but Gwen's voice pops up behind me.
"Wow! Is that your dog?" She asks rather too enthusiastically. I cringe on the inside.
"Yeah," I reply, my eyes dull.
"She sure is pretty. Can I pet her?"
I nod. She giggles a little as she spots Nathan and Evan, rubbing Luna's belly.
"Friend of yours?" Gwen asks, gesturing to Evan. I shake my head. Her smile widens, as if she knew something I didn't. As if everything was a joke. It annoys me like crazy.
"I can tell. Nathan looks like he's about to kill him. What'd he do to you?" She chimes
"That's none of your business," I snap angrily, giving her a side glare as I lean on Luna's side. Gwen seems taken aback, but I honestly don't care. Nathan walks over to us, Evan hanging behind him awkwardly.
"We can go on our walk now, Rose. You seem to be feeling better," Nathan mumbles dully.
"Great! I'll join you guys!" Gwen chirps.
"It's cold. I'm going inside," is all I say.
I watch out the gloomy window as they leave, furious for a reason that I cannot explain. I hate this place. It's supposed to be in the middle of spring by now, but winter is the only season here. And that's my least favorite season.
I sigh irritably, sick of being trapped in this dark, lonely state. I walk back out after about thirty minutes of sulking, searching for Nathan around the town.
