While Past Gloria was out partying, Gyro was in the hotel room reading nerdy science textbooks he brought along like the loser he was.

There was a knock at the door right when he was at the good part. He groaned and got up, figuring Gloria had forgotten her key. But it wasn't Gloria, or it was, just the other version of her. It was Future Gloria.

"Hello." He greeted formally. "Is it important? I was in the middle of reading a very exquisite book." Ew. Who the fuck says "exquisite"?

"Who the fuck says 'exquisite'?" Gloria had to say it. "But anyway, I'll let you get back to your reading." She held out the letter for Gyro to take.

He stared at it and raised a brow. "A letter?"

"Yeah. Just open it when you're with Past me." She would have wanted to comfort him when he opened the letter, but she figured Past Gloria deserved to bond with and comfort Gyro. She had already done that in her timeline.

Gyro didn't seem too concerned and took it. "Fine. I'll get back to my reading now."

Ellie was laying down on the couch outside on the private balcony of their suite, with a pillow propped under her head as she listened to the waves. She honestly wanted to shut down like that but she couldn't. Boyd was inside playing on his DS and she informed him to come and get her when he wanted to be read a bedtime story.

She would have stayed inside and watched him play his games if it wasn't for the fact she really needed to cry, which she obviously didn't want to do in front of Boyd.

The things Mark had said to her, about her emotions, kept repeating in her mind. And she believed him. She wasn't real, her mind was just tricking her into thinking she felt things when in reality she was numb. In that case, she didn't know why her emotions felt so believable, but she decided it wasn't something to question. What Mark said must've been true if he was the one who built her and that's all she needed to know.

Ellie sniffled again when she heard the balcony door slide open and close again. But she could tell by the footsteps that it wasn't Boyd, it was Mark who had finally come back after doing God knows what for hours.

She wiped her non-existent tears away and formed a neutral expression before Mark saw her laying down. In fact, she went the extra mile of closing her eyes and pretending to be shut down. That's how badly she wanted to avoid a conversation with him.

Ellie didn't see his appearance but Mark was just out drinking and his clothes looked disheveled and wrinkled. Some of the buttons on his shirt were unbuttoned and his hair was all over the place. His eyes were still red from crying. He was still a little tipsy so he used the railing as support. "Hey. I'm not going to stay for very long but I just wanted to let you know that I decided we shouldn't be together anymore." His throat was pretty hoarse and his tone had no hint of emotion in it. He was just as numb as Ellie was.

The whole 'pretending to be shut down' idea was thrown away and Ellie bolted upright. She studied him for a moment; he was a complete and utter mess and it was clear he wasn't joking.

"HAHAHAHA!" She bursted out laughing but her voice cracked. "You have a, um, strange sense of humor."

"I'm not joking. I'm going to see other people. And by that I mean women who are actually real. Not some robot that I built..." Mark couldn't even look her in the eyes when he said that.

"What?! Why?! What did I do?!" She completely ignored the whole robot insult, she was too scared of him leaving her. "But at your mother's house, you- you told me you would never leave me! You pinky promised! A-and you said you loved me!"
