Ellie sat down and tucked Boyd into bed, kissing him on the forehead.
Kyle was 'nice' enough to give Boyd his own room, though Ellie wasn't quite happy about that. She refused to leave Boyd alone for one second with her previous roach son.
"I know you are a big kid now," Ellie said. Did Boyd view himself as a big kid? It had been two years. "But I am going to be staying here all night, alright?" She hadn't told him what Kyle had done to her, but Boyd was smart enough to know Kyle was a threat.
"Alright. Goodnight, mom!" Boyd smiled and closed his eyes. He wasn't happy that he was now kidnapped too but at least he was back with his mom. He was able to rest well knowing that she was around to protect him.
A few more minutes passed when Ellie heard a soft knock on the door.
That was weird, Kyle never knocked. He had a little door to crawl in without permission.
She scowled before putting her polite face on and opening the door. "Yes... sir?" Calling people sir always made everything polite. She closed the door behind her so as to not wake up Boyd. "Boyd just fell asleep so..."
"That's fine. I won't keep you for very long. I just wanted to give you this..." Kyle walked around the corner and came back with a bouquet of flowers that were much larger than he was along with a "I'm sorry" card attached. "It's not much but I hope you can view this as a form of apology for my past behaviors."
Ellie cringed and picked up the flowers. We all know homegirl does not like organic life. She smiled awkwardly before opening up the card.
"Dear Ellie,
I would like to formally apologize for my past actions against you, your friends, family, and son. They were actions that I am not proud of. I know I have a lot of growing and changing to do before we could ever be in a better relationship, if you so choose for that to happen. I plan on reevaluating myself in the coming days and hope to gain a better perspective. I hope this card finds you well. Perhaps one day things can be better between us. Until then, please accept these flowers as a token of my deepest apologies.
Kyle"
She looked down at Kyle and laughed nervously. "Is this, um, is this a joke?"
He shook his head. "No... No ma'am. It is not." Steelbeak taught him to say 'ma'am' to your mother because you need to address her with respect.
Ellie studied him for another moment, to make sure he was serious, before breaking out into a genuine laugh. There was no way this shit was happening. "You cannot be serious! You actually think that I will somehow forgive you after everything you did?! Please!" She wiped a non-existent tear from her eye. "Hello mother," She made an impression of him. "I would like to apologize for locking you in a basement for a year and forcing you to be my slave. Will you forgive me? HA!" She threw the flowers and the card on the floor and stomped on them. "And for your information. I hate flowers. And I hate you." She glared at him. "Oh wait, sorry sir, I should accept your apology, otherwise you are going to take away all my senses and eventually take me apart. Pardon me."
Kyle didn't say anything for a moment. He felt like he should follow through with his orders and take away her senses again but he just couldn't. That wouldn't make things any better. He sighed and took a step back. "Very well. I can understand that you do not wish to speak to me about this subject anymore. I will excuse myself and let you carry on with whatever you were doing."
She watched him walk off, a bit dumbfounded. He really was serious.
Ellie left the flowers and card on the floor before reentering Boyd's room.
