After Ellie's conversation with Bill, she couldn't stop thinking about Kyle. About when she first met him that is. Back then he was so polite and sweet. He was a cockroach that wouldn't dare hurt a fly... not that cockroaches could really hurt anything even if they wanted to but whatever.

If Kyle was really that same cockroach now as he was back then, then it should have been easier to forgive him. What else did he need to do? He already apologized and did everything she said.

Maybe she just needed to talk to him again...

Speaking of Kyle, she spotted him on the front porch of the inn. He was on the rocking chair, much too big for him, smoking a tiny cockroach cigar. It was actually just a tiny piece of a normal cigar that he cut off.

"Hello, Kyle." Ellie awkwardly approached him. "What are you up to?"

"Nothing really... I guess just enjoying the great outdoors. Getting fresh air." Which is ironic because he's smoking. "How about you?"

"I was just coming back from visiting Bill."

There was a really awkward silence that followed. Ellie eventually sat on the rocking chair beside him.

Kyle pointed to what was left of the cigar he cut up for his own mini cigar. "You're free to smoke with me if you'd like."

She stared at it for a moment before shrugging and grabbing it. "Eh. Fuck it." The worst thing that could come from smoking was that her circuits would overheat but that was unlikely. Homegirl had a cooling system. Did she look like a fucking ENIAC to you?

There was another moment of awkward silence. Kyle cleared his throat. "So how was your conversation with Mark's father?"

"It was alright..." She trailed off for a second. "I tried to convince him to come back to Duckburg but he would not comply. Which, you know, makes me a bit upset because I was beginning to view him as a father figure but... no matter."

"Oh... I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know the full story but I know that there is some conflict between him and Mark." He inhaled his cigar. "That actually reminds me... I was meaning to inform you that I will be staying here as well. There is no need for me to return back to Duckburg... If you need assistance with F.O.W.L. I will do that much, but after that I plan on staying here."

Ellie nearly dropped her cigar, turning to look at Kyle. "Pardon? But why would you want to stay here?" She kept her voice monotone so he wouldn't be able to tell what she was feeling.

"... I guess I'm staying for the same reason Bill is. Our family can't seem to forgive us so it might be better for everyone if we just stay in the middle of nowhere." Kyle also kept his voice monotone while he stared at the sky.

"... so you are staying because of me? Is that what you are saying?"

Kyle nodded. "I've hurt you long enough. It's best that you never see me again. I've been thinking about this for the past few days now and I've already made my decision."

"...oh."

They sat in silence again for a while and Kyle was a bit disappointed that Ellie didn't say anything more.

He eventually looked over and noticed she was silently crying. Obviously with no tears if you need a reminder.

"Are you alright? I can leave if you'd like me to." Kyle took one last drag of his cigar before putting it out.

"No. No, I do not want you to leave. I do not want you to leave me." Ellie covered her face with her free hand. "Goodness, I have been quite mean to you, haven't I? No wonder you want to stay here."
