"I have to say it is so nice to meet you!" Ellie was in the same saloon as the previous day with Bill. "I have not seen Mark in so long, it is enough for me to just be in the presence of his family member." Hopefully that didn't sound too weird.

Bill laughed. "It's quite nice to meet you too! I mean, gosh, Mark has a fiancée and a son! He's doing so well. I couldn't be more proud." He looked around. "Where is Boyd, anyway?"

"I did not want Boyd to be in an actual bar now that I am certain this is not a roleplaying game. So he is at the inn learning how to cook with Abigail and his brother. I believe it is very important that a man knows how to cook."

"Other son?"

"Kyle." Ellie said. "He is a cockroach I adopted when I was in my Uncle's summer camp approximately three years ago. Almost four. Mark was not quite in on it but I did not give him a choice. I taught Kyle how to speak but I ended up losing him during our escape. He found me one year later, wanting revenge, claiming I 'ditched' him. So he kept me hostage and tortured me for two years. That is why I was separated from Mark. I escaped and now he is grounded. And he hates cooking, so I think staying at the inn today is a wonderful punishment."

Wow. What a lot of information to take in. I mean, just the cockroach line was already crazy enough. All Bill could do was give an awkward laugh. "Wow. Seems like you and Mark have gone through quite a lot... Speaking of which, could you tell me about how you two met?"

Fuck.

"Ummm... it is a strange story actually." Like the other story wasn't. But Ellie wasn't quite sure how Bill would feel about robots. Or if he would even believe her. "I am not sure how long you have been in this town. Do you know of his company, Waddle?"

He nodded. "The last time I spoke to him, he was first starting Waddle. It is as big and successful as he dreamed it would be?"

Ellie laughed. "Considering he is a billionaire, I believe so. Everyone uses his cellular devices except me. I prefer a flip phone." So did Gyro but why the fuck would she bring him into a conversation? "Anyway. Waddle is a very successful tech company, so, to sum it up as best as I can, I was... built there. For my Uncle Glomgold who needed help running for mayor. I realized I had a crush on Mark a few days later when we were in prison. That is another story."

"Oh, you are technology then?" There wasn't any judgement in his voice, he just needed clarification.

"Yes." She paused. "That is not a problem is it?"

Bill laughed. "Are you kidding? Of course not! You're his fiancée! And as long as you two love each other, who cares, right? I'm sure you make Mark very happy and I'm so glad to hear that he's in a much better place now."

That actually made Ellie feel good. But she frowned anyway. "Why does Mark not speak of you? You seem like a very nice man. There must be a reason."

"Ah... yes." He scratched the back of his head. "Mark and I... we never got along when he was growing up. I wasn't the best father to him and we would always get into arguments. We just had two different personalities and it was hard for us to bond over anything. I tried to get him into sports but he hated it... He would yell and scream and I... well sometimes I would hit him. I'm not proud of that... That's probably why he's never mentioned me to you, Ellie. And I can't blame him. My father was the same exact way and I haven't even said his name out loud in over thirty years."

"Oh..." Ellie was beginning to like Bill, but now she wasn't so sure if she should. Mark probably hated him. "I am not excusing your actions but we all make mistakes, some very much worse than others. I stabbed Mark a few times." She wasn't lying. "But there is always a chance to become a better person. Perhaps Mark does not want to reconnect with you, but I believe an apology could go a long way." Hypocritical when she wasn't even accepting Kyle's apology but whatever. "As long as you regret your actions and have changed as a person, it is worth a try. And I think Mark needs that after he had a falling out with his mother two years ago. Now he has no parental figures in his life." She said. "He usually expects me to be the adult in the relationship and that is probably why."
