A year had come and gone quickly. Very little had changed in Duckburg. Mia and Heidi had moved in together and were in a committed relationship, Boyd was still living with Gyro and Gloria, and Ellie was still missing.

"Hi, M-Mark!" Wyatt greeted.

Yeah, it's ya boi, Wyatt! Remember that guy? Well, he's a manager at Mark's company now. Paid well and overlooking new projects.

"I just w-wanted to let you know that Fen- er- Gizmoduck is h-here to see y-you."

"Yeet!" That was Mark's way of replying to Wyatt while he threw a mini basketball into a basketball hoop on the other side of his office. He missed. "Thanks, man! Send him in!"

"O-okay..." You think Wyatt would be used to Mark by now, and his immaturity, but he wasn't.

Gizmoduck rolled in a minute later. "Greetings, Mr. Beaks!" He still acted as if Mark didn't know who he was.

"Sup, G-Dawg! What's the new report?!" He grabbed another mini basketball and threw it. Missed again.

"The new report is..." He trailed off before clearing his throat. "I'm going to stop the search."

"HUH?! I'm sorry I don't think I heard you right. What do you mean you're going to stop the search?!" Mark threw a small rubber basketball at Gizmoduck. "If you still haven't found Ellie, then you don't stop searching for her!"

Gizmoduck caught the ball easily and gently placed it on Mark's desk. "All I've been doing is looking for her when Duckburg isn't in danger. I'm exhausted all the time. I care, I do, but there's no evidence and no sign of her. I can't continue to search blindly with nothing to go off of. I'm sorry, Mark, but I'm stopping until you can give me something to work with." Gizmoduck's voice gave away how heartbroken he was over having to make this decision. Even so, he could tell just how pissed off Mark was because of how furrowed his thick ass eyebrows were.

"FINE! You weren't much help anyways! Go fly away now!" Mark shooed him off. "You piss me off and I'm going to roast your stupid ass online for all the world to see!"

Gizmoduck sighed and waved him off. "Contact me if you find new information, okay? I want to help again if I can."

As soon as Mark was left alone, he rested his head in his hands to think.

A year has passed and Ellie was still alone in that godforsaken room, scrunched up in a ball. She had lost sanity a long time ago. She couldn't see, couldn't hear, couldn't move, and couldn't even think. Sometimes she would mutter to herself just to feel the vibration of noise.

Homegirl wasn't having a good time. But at least she still had her engagement ring that she would sometimes play with. That was about it.

To be honest, Kyle had almost forgotten that Ellie was even down there. He was a busy roach. He had a lot of things to take care of and if he had any hair, he would pull it all out. He needed to go down to the basement Ellie was being held in to grab some old records for a very specific hitman job.

Kyle walked in through the same small cockroach door and started roaming around to find the records. When he thought he found the box that held them, he ran into Ellie. God damn... was she even still alive? Could robots just permanently shut off? Kyle grabbed a nearby stick and poked her with it.

Ellie bolted up and screamed, immediately scrambling backwards into some cabinets that held important files. Some papers fell on her but she didn't react to it.

"Woah woah woah! Calm down!" Kyle set the stick down. "Duck Jesus... now I have to clean all this shit up." Kyle started moving all of the papers into a pile on the floor. Poor guy could only lift one sheet at a time.
