*Scarlette's POV*
"That was fun!" I smiled.
"The guy holding the camera kept staring at you."
"Johnnie?"
"I guess that's what his name is."
"He's cool!" I shrugged my shoulders.
Alex changed the subject, "So, do you want to go to my house?"
I nodded and we left for Alex's house. When we got there, Alex led me upstairs.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"It's a surprise." He smirked.
"I swear to God, Gaskarth..."
Alex opened his bedroom door, which I haven't been in and turned on a small lamp that didn't emit much light. There were cream colored walls and a Blink-182 poster taped to his closet door. He had a black bedspread and white pillowcases. A pair of doors led outside to a balcony. The both of us walked outside. Alex then began to climb over the railing.
"What are you doing?!"
Alex climbed his way up to the roof and he held his hand out for me to grasp. I took it and he pulled me up. It was then that I noticed the amazing view of the sunset from the roof.
"Wow..."
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Alex said.
"Mhmm."
"Do you know what else is beautiful?" Alex's chocolate brown eyes gazed into mine as he brought his face closer.
"Who?" I blushed.
"Jack." Alex smirked.
"Oh my God, I hate you!" I laughed while slapping him in the arm.
"I love you, too." Alex replied.
"On a serious note," I began, "how do you know when you truly love someone?"
"Well, I think when someone makes you both the happiest and the saddest person in the world at the same time, it really means something. That's when it's real." Alex stared thoughtfully into the sky.
"Is that how you knew that I was the one you wanted to be with?"
"No, you just became the thoughts that I couldn't erase at one in the morning."
"I can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing..." I smirked.
"I'm joking! You make me better every single day that we're together! And when you're sad, I'm sad." Alex gave me a small smile.
"That's sweet." I replied.
"It's the truth."
"Have you heard Jack's new nickname for Avery?" I changed the subject after a long pause.
"No, what is it?"
"Avery-Davery-Doo." I cracked up. Alex laughed too.
"Are you serious?!"
"I am not kidding!"
"That's hilarious! Speaking of Avery...she told me that your birthday was in a few days..." Alex poked me in the arm.
"Yup. The joy of having an April birthday..." I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes.
"What's wrong with having a birthday in April?"
"Nothing. I just wish it was in October or something."
"I'm going to get you a present." Alex looked at me mischievously.
