*Alex's POV*

"Oh, Alex! You finally came!" Jack came barging in, "Hey, are you okay?"

I gulped and grabbed my guitar, "I'll see you later."

I pushed past Jack and ran into Avery as I walked through the doorway.

"Alex, what's wrong?"

I ignored her and kept walking. I can't endure the thought of life without Scarlette. She's my everything, she's the reason I wake up every morning, she's everything I live for. I mean, sure we get into arguments sometimes, but that doesn't mean I ever stopped loving her.

*Jack's POV*

"I wonder what's up with him." I shrugged and noticed Dr. Callett.

"Oh, well-" Dr. Callett was interrupted by someone who looked way more professional than her who barged into the room.

"I just received the reports." The guy who just came in said. He was taller than me and had large framed glasses. He was wearing a white button-down shirt and a black tie, and his hair was combed back. I have to say that he used too much hair gel. He should tone it down a bit.

Dr. Callett read over the clipboard the the mysterious fancy guy had given her.

"So, no surgery, then?" She looked back up at the guy.

"It's not necessary. We can just wade it through with medication."

"That's good news!"

The guy left with the clipboard and Dr. Callett turned to Avery and I.

"Scarlette will be able to go home in a few more days. We would like to keep her longer just to make sure. Oh, and tell your friend Mr. Gaskarth that Scarlette will be fine!"

"Wait, what was the surgery thing you were talking about?" Avery asked.

"Well, we thought that Scarlette might need brain surgery, but it's no longer necessary! She'll be fine, it wasn't as bad as we thought."

"That's good!" Avery smiled. She turned to look at me and the two of us headed out the door.

"Hey, do you know what was up with Alex?" Avery asked once we got to the parking garage.

"No idea." I shrugged, "We can stop by his house to check on him."

We drove to Alex's house, but the closer we got, the more uncomfortable I became. It just felt as though something was wrong. Once we pulled up to Alex's house, I knew something was wrong.

"Avery, I think you should stay in the car..." I said as I unbuckled my seatbelt, "Something's wrong... I can sense it."

"Okay, I'll be waiting in the car for you, then." Avery gave me a reassuring smile before I got out of my car and to Alex's door.

I knocked on his front door, "Alex?" I called out. No reply.

"I know you're home, your car is in the driveway!" I yelled through the door.

Still no response. I twisted the handle, but it was locked. I peered through the mail slot and looked in. I could see Alex's shadow, which was walking around in his kitchen.

"Alex, open the damn door!"

He still didn't answer. Well, I guess this is my only option....

I lifted my leg and kicked the door as hard as I could. I split the wood in the door, but it opened nonetheless.

I dashed into the kitchen to see Alex struggling to open a bottle of whiskey.

"ALEX FUCKING GASKARTH!" I screamed at him and slapped the bottle out of his hands, which smashed to ground. Glass exploded around us and the strong-scented liquid flooded the kitchen floor.
