A Light in the Shadows.

Kicked out.

All of this very nice peacefulness was interrupted as the door burst open.

"Sister!!!" we heard a boy yelling.

Xentri instantly turned to see, seeming very angry.

There were about 7 people at the door.

The boy that had yelled had short curly white hair, white eyes, and pale skin.

He was clearly related to Xentri.

I blinked, reaching for Jelequi's hand.

Jelequi took my hand. "Zenial, what do you want?" Xentri asked the white haired boy.

"Nothing! Nothing! Just checking up on Jelequi!" He said, turning to Jelequi, "How are you?" "I'm good." Jelequi said.

I looked back and forth between them.

Why was a random boy checking on Jelequi? That was Xentri and I's job.

"That's Zenial, Xentri's brother," Jelequi told me. "Oh, okay. I kind of assumed with the loud yelling of his sister and the white hair." Jelequi laughed, "Yeah." Zenial ran over,

"Hi! Are you Jelequi's friend?" He asked me.

"Of course." I said, smiling at him slightly. "You're a human?" He looked at me, tilting his head. "Um, no..." I said uncomfortably.

Zenial looked at Xentri, "So. Xentri, you're hanging out with a dragon?" Xentri looked terrified, "Please don't tell dad.."

"I won't!" Zenial said happily, "I think it's fine!" I felt relieved, saying, "you're much more pleasant than your sister is on first impression."

"Was my sister mean!?" Zenial said, seeming annoyed, "Why are you rude, Xentri?"

"I'm not? I was just trying to protect Jelequi and Amharic. It was my first time actually talking to a dragon."

"eh, it was partly my fault anyway, but Xentri's okay now" I said, smirking at Xentri.

Zenial seemed very excited. A girl with dark skin, and fluffy cloud-like hair, walked up beside Zenial, "Don't overwhelm them, Zenial."

"We have Amharic, I think we're fine," I said, smiling at Amharic.

 Zenial, and Amharic both laughed. "You are more similar than I realized..." Xentri mumbled.

 I laughed.

I somewhat recognized the cloudy haired girl, for some reason.

She looked similar to another elf she had seen a long time ago, when I had a meeting with the elf ruler. "Huh, you look familiar somehow..." I said, looking slightly confused.

"Me?" The cloud elf asked. "Yeah, did you used to or still be part of the elf rulers of something?" I asked.

She burst out laughing, "I'm a teen! You're probably thinking over my mother. She is the elven ruler of our city's advisor!" She explained.

"Yeah, that makes sense..." I said, feeling embarrassed.

"It's fine, don't worry about the mistake. Me and my mother look similar." She said.

"Okay.." Jelequi squeezed my hand slightly, smiling at me.

I smiled back at Jelequi.

"We should probably get going, right Zenial." The girl said.

 "Aww... Fine." Zenial said, disappointed, "Bye!"

"bye" I said, smiling at him.

Zenial, and his group left, heading out the door.

There was silence.

 "Wellllll..." Amharic extended their word, not really sure what to say, "What now?"

"now that our absolutely ridiculus banter has been inturrupted" I put in.

"I don't know. Normally we actually have something to talk about." Xentri said.

I said, "I have cursed you with my presence."

"You are no curse!" Jelequi said, hugging me.

"Okay." I said, leaning my head on Jelequi's shoulder.

Amharic smiled at Xentri, before looking back to me and Jelequi.

"How about. Me and Xentri handle the shop, while you two hang out?" Amharic suggested.

 I looked to Jelequi, asking her with my eyes.

"You really don't have to, Amharic. You've been doing a lot." Jelequi said.

Amharic, without saying a word, grabbed both me and Jelequi, and basically threw us out of the shop.

"Have fun!" Amharic said, closing the door. "Kicked out of your own shop." I said, not knowing what else to say.

"Not the first time." Jelequi sighed. I giggled a little.

"Should we actually do something, since we've been forced out of the shop?" Jelequi asked. "Why not?" I said.
