In the morning I got up, transferring bananas into his cage before going to get coffee. The rest of the day passed. I did my updates on the war, and went to send more soldiers to fight. I yawned and realized it was getting late again.
I curled up to read, enjoying two nights of peace.
I woke up, realizing it was almost night time again and Melina was knocking on my door. "Are you dead?" she called. "No, only dead inside," I replied. "Frick!" I yelled. "What?" Melina asked. "I still have to kill an elf that's threatening Jelequi," I groaned. "He'll deserve it though," I said. Melina kept quiet looking at me with... I didn't know what her expression was. I crinkled my nose at her. She looked away. Weird. I shrugged it off. "I'll see you later" I said, swiftly hugging her and flying off. I got to the outskirts of the city, and turned into my human form. I had never honed my tracking skills before, and I had never tracked as a human, but shadow dragons were said to have the best skills. I inhaled deeply, not catching his scent yet. I walked for some time around the city, and then I smelled his rotten scent. It was strong, so he must have been here recently. I followed his rancid smell, the smell of dead bodies, until I gagged.
I was walking through the city, tracing his scent. It soon led to a dark, shabby street. I looked around searching for Goldarn. I saw kids beginning through the street, laughing, running around. They all looked so adorable. I frowned wondering if I had picked up the wrong scent. The children looked over to me, looking curiously. They all shuffled over.
"What are you?" One of the kids asked. "I'm a dragon," I replied, softening and smiling at them. Kids were my weakness. They were so adorable and i had always wanted to have my own hatchlings. Some of them backed away, scared. "Uncle! Uncle Goldarn! There is a scary dragon!" One of them yelled, running into a nearby house. I sighed. I forgot elves were afraid of dragons. I watched Goldarn exit the house, the kid that had ran into holding on his arm. "What are you talking..." Goldarn mumbled, looking up to me, his eyes widening in fear. "Oh.. You.." Goldarn muttered. I looked at him in confusion, saying, "what's going on, goldarn? " "What are you talking about? The kids?" Goldarn asked. "Everything. Jelequi, the gang, the poison, and yes, the kids." "The kids are orphans that live here." Goldarn explained, "And I'm not explaining anything else. Leave, before you scare them more." I sighed, closing my eyes. He didn't seem to realized the concept of the fact that he was facin a well armed dragon who could easily kill him. "You're also scaring my friend. I'm not leaving until this is dealt with. You have children, so i don't want to take... drastic measures" "That's a way to say you won't kill me." Goldarn said. The kids all looked over to Goldarn, "Why would she kill you...?" One of them asked quietly. "Well, I suppose... goldarn hasn't told you how he has been threatening my friends and is in a gang," I replied. "I'm not in a gang. I'm friends with some murders, but I'm not in a gang." Goldarn said. The kids looked at Goldarn, scurrying away from him. "No! Please come back..." Goldarn mumbled to the kids. "I won't hurt you" I said in a soothing voice at the scared look the kids were giving me. I bent down to their level and smiled softly at them. "Kids, could you head back inside?" Goldarn asked. The kids quickly scurried away back into the houses. I stalked closer to Goldarn. "Should we head into one of the houses to talk..?" Goldarn quietly asked. "Okay" I replied simply as if I wasn't ready to kill him at a moment's notice. Goldarn led me into a nearby house. It was very empty, with a simple cheap looking kitchen. Goldarn poured some water into a kettle, "I'm making tea.. Want some?" "After you try to poison my friend? No thanks" I said coldly. Goldarn shrugged, "I'm not going to kill you." "Well then how about we just throw Jelequi iunto that deal?" I said. "What are you talking about? I was never going to kill Jelequi. I never wanted to!" Goldarn replied. "Do you know how terrified she is of you? Do you know all the anxiety you've caused me just worrying about what would happen to Jelequi when I wasn't protecting her? I came here to kill you because I was terrified Jelequi was going to die by your hand!" I ranted angrily. "Look. I'm not a murderer, never killed anyone." Goldarn said, "I never plan on killing anyone. I'm not going to kill Angel. Even though she's scared of me, and I know it, I think she is pretty cool." "Well, unfortunately, you creeped her out and now both she and I are convinced you either hate her or hate her and want to kill her." "God, I'm sorry! What more do you want!? I'll stay away from her!" Goldarn yelled. "You better." "Look, kill me if you want... The only reason you should keep me around is for the kids. They depend on me..." Goldarn said. "I know..." I said, sighing heavily. Goldarn took the kettle off the stove, pouring it into three cups. He put tea bags in each of them. I said "well, i better go. Do. not. Intentionally seek out jelequi. I get it if you see her in the market or whatever, but no more shop visits or leading her into trouble." I said, "beccause unlike you, i will kill if it means keeping the people i love safe." "Alright, alright. You can leave now, the door is unlocked." I walked out and flew away.
