A Light in the Shadows.

The Market

"Oh, yeah!" I said, "I still need to get to the market! It's only a few blocks away! I'm meeting my sibling there," I told Jelequi.

"Oh, let's go together then!" Jelequi happily said.

She grabbed me, leading me through the alleys towards the market. I smiled slightly, blushing, and followed.

Why did she do this to me?

Soon we exited the alleys, into the street.

Jelequi looked around at the market shops. "What are you looking for?" I questioned. "I just don't know where to go first. I don't go to the market often. Hmm.. should I get fruit, or eggs first..?"

"I've got to go to the jewelry store to collect my sibling," I said, slightly guiltily, mostly because I didn't want to leave Jelequi, which was ridiculous.

"It might take a while to drag her away." "Jewelry store? I never knew the market had a jewelry store! Well, I only ever go to the food stores so I must not have ever seen it.."

"The market is pretty big," I said thoughtfully. "It's only a walk from here if you want to meet my sibling," I said hopefully.

"Sure, I would love to meet your sibling!" Jelequi smiled at me

"Awesome," I replied.

"You can lead the way to the jewelry store!" Jelequi said.

I led Jelequi through the crowded street, bargaining ringing through the air. A couple blocks away was a fancy store, bigger than most and not many people gathered near it.

"Woah..." Jelequi quietly gasped.

"Yeah," I agreed.

"So, is your sibling around here?" Jelequi asked.

"Probably looking at the shiniest thing here," I laughed. Jelequi giggled at this remark.

"There she is," I said, making my way over to Astra

"Astra, this is Jelequi, a friend of mine" I said to Astra, "Jelequi, this is my sibling Astra"

"It's nice to meet you Astra!" Jelequi said to Astra. "You too!" Astra said enthusiastically.

"These jewelry pieces are beautiful, and so shiny!" Jelequi pointed out. "Yeah" I agreed, "If there's anything Astra loves more than people it's anything shiny." "I've seen people like that!" Jelequi giggled.

"Don't get me wrong, they're really sweet, but definitely has a weakness of shininess," I noted.

Jelequi nodded, looking around at all the jewelry. She seemed so amazed by all the pieces, whereas I had grown up in a palace where this sort of thing was normal. "Also it's Astra's birthday soon, so they're hoping to get something from here" I chuckled.

"That's amazing! I understand why they would want to get something from here, it's all so beautiful." Jelequi mentioned.

"True" I agreed.

Jelequi continued to look around in awe. "First time in a jewelry shop?" I questioned.

"Yeah! I've never really been to shops like this.."

"yeah"

"Oh, I forgot what I was going to the market for in the first place! I need to get groceries.." "Okay, I can join you if you want" I offered, not wanting to leave. "It's not like Astra's going anywhere," I said. "Okay, you can join me if you really want." Jelequi replied.
