When I got back to my sister I was utterly distracted, but I still looked at jewels with them, and then fancy clothes, and then shiny weapons.
Astra finally got tired, but not before weedling at me until they got a dagger.
Then I quietly bought a piece of jewelry because their birthday was coming soon.
It was a beautiful necklace that seemed to have a whole universe trapped inside. I tucked it away in my bead bag and Astra and I went home.
At the castle there was one of my advisors who was angry at me for not doing my duty for two whole days and all that nonsense about hybrids, and I told him to back off, and he went away muttering. It was true though, I needed to go back to being queen.
Enough distractions.
Gold and green.
The migraine was back.
The sun was setting, washing the sky with blood red and fiery orange. I wished I could just fly off and never come back, to disappear into those beautiful colors.
Green and gold.
I went back into those suffocating hallways, back to reality.
I decided to ditch my queenly duties for one more night and go read. I went to my room, settling into my bed, but I felt as if I was suffocating. I turned into a dragon and squeezed out my biggest window, with multiple blankets and pillows out into the twilight.
The first few stars twinkled in the deep blues and purples of the sky.
I found a fairly flat roof and curled myself up, arranging pillows and blankets into a makeshift bed, and got lost in the world of fantasy far, far, away.
When I looked up it was to a flash of light.
Turns out it was a meteor shower. The stars fell one after the other, leaving brief streaks of light. It was spectacular, and I wished Jelequi could have seen that too.
Wait, what? My eyes stayed on the sky long after the last star fell, staring hungrily at the stars, and finding constellations.
Before I knew it the first streaks of dawn lit up the sky, waking me from the first peaceful night I had had in weeks.
I got up.
I think I actually got nine hours of sleep. I squeezed back into my window, transforming from half dragon to human.
I got on a simple black tunic and baggy blue cargo pants, brushing all the knots out of my silky black hair. I went down to the kitchen where the cooks looked utterly confused.
"Hello" I cheerfully said.
They scrambled to make my usual coffee and I sipped it gratefully, finishing it quickly and rushing out of the room, and down to the council room.
I spent the morning catching up with the last two days and decided to invite the other leaders from around the world to come and catch me up in person rather than sending messengers.
I announced this to the castle.
The other leaders would arrive in five days.
Everyone went into decorating mode and rushed around the castle doing stuff.
I kept myself busy for the rest of the day tucked away in a corner reading.
Ah, the good life.
In about an hour I finished my book and headed to the castle library.
Before I was queen the library was big, but I expanded it and now it's the biggest in the world.
I decided I was too lazy to get up and just sprawled out on one of the couches in the library.
I spent the night on the roof again although I went back to my usual five hours of sleep.
Green and gold.
I pretty much spent the days leading up to the visit doing necessary queen stuff and reading.
I went through five books in four days because I was nervous.
It was a full moon the day after the leaders came so I decided we would throw one of the elementals famous balls.
We had them fairly often and I found that to be a good queen of dragons you had to do some things to make the leaders of the other tribes happy, so a royal ball it is. It would go late into the night and lighten up the mood.
I invited all the elemental leaders and some of the minor royals.
It would be a crowded night.
Then I realized he would ask me again. He meaning Rihan. He was one of the minor light royals and was madly in love with me.
Unfortunately I thought he was a complete idiot and hated his guts, so that was fun, besides that I was lesbian, so he had no chance, yet for some reason he would still constantly ask me out. The guy never learned.
The moral of that story is that most guys are dumb.
As if on cue he appeared in my castle.
When I heard him chuckling I decided to ignore him.
When he came closer I decided to not before he did anything. I sat up, my hair slightly messy. "What?" I asked angrily. "Go to the dance with me" he said "no" I replied "please" he said "no" I said. "Go away" he stormed off as always.
I got up and headed to the training arena where anyone in the castle could polish their skills.
I picked a dagger and went against a trainer working off all the anger and stress and thoughts I have been holding in since i first met Jelequi, and before that even.
The next day the first dragon from another kingdom arrived.
I missed Jelequi. Her laugh, her smile, our silly banter. I need to visit her sometime soon. After the ball, I promised myself.
