Characters: Werewolf!Sam Winchester x Witch!Reader

Warnings: the pain of being a werewolf (think of Tyler from the vampire diaries)

Summary: Sam has to go through an excruciating transformation every full moon and all you can do is be there for him and maybe provide a little magic.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Are you sure this is going to work?" Sam asked nervously as you bolted the hooks for the chains to the walls and concrete floor. Weeks before the full moon was ever supposed to make an appearance, you had gone hunting for the perfect spot to lock Sam up. His basement and a pair of handcuffs just weren't going to cut it anymore. There needed to be some serious adjustments if he wanted to stay secure for the few hours when the moon was at its apex.

"No, I don't. But, it's better than your basement, and we're miles from anyone. If you get out, you'll get lost in these woods before you reach any kind of house," you put honestly, drilling the bolt to the ground.

When you came across this burnt down building, you thought it was going to be another dead end. It was a good thing you explored it further because below the ruins, there was a concrete basement that ran deep with a cage inside. Whoever built it might have been like Sam, and whoever they were, was long gone now. All you could do was hope this would contain him.

"I trust you," he nodded, a thin layer of sweat had built up on his face. The moon was reaching its apex, and Sam was going to turn whether you finished or not. "You have to hurry up."

"I'm done. Come on," you rushed, wrapping the chains around his ankles and securing them to the hooks you installed. Doing the same to his wrists, you prayed to whoever was listening that this was going to contain him.

"Okay, you need to get out of here," he panted.

"No, I am not leaving you. I promised to help you get through this, so let me," you said, placing your hands on his wet skin as you began chanting. You just hoped your magic was strong enough to take some of the pain away.

You and Sam were the only special people in your small town. For as long as you could remember, Sam has had these powers that made him turn into a werewolf on every full moon. You were born a witch, and for a long time, you two were partners in crime. He'd seek solace from you since your magic was able to take some of the pain away from him turning. It was a long and brutal process that only lasted a few hours, but to him, it felt like days.

His bones would break in the most horrible way, and they would shift into that of a wolf. Hair would grow everywhere until he became a full-fledged wolf. Anything in his way would die, and he was capable of tearing through a whole town without even knowing it. His wolf personality was way different from his human. It's why you never left because you knew the kind of person he was and the fact that he needed your help.

It broke your heart to see and hear him in such pain, but you had the ability to help. Even if it was a small amount. During the time he wasn't turning, you two would search endlessly to see if there was a way to stop himself from turning. Maybe then he might be able to live some semblance of a normal life.

However, normal wasn't in the books for people like you.

The process was starting, and Sam's leg broke in half as it tried to form into a wolf's leg. He young man tilted his head back and let out a loud scream. Putting your hands on his leg, you closed your eyes as you used the natural elements around you to try and take the pain away.

"It's going to be okay, Sam," you got tears when another bone broke.

"You need to get out of here," he whimpered.

"No, I am not leaving you. Accept that," you sighed, keeping your hands on his body at all times. He seemed to calm down just a little bit as your magic worked. He's tried so many times to have a normal girlfriend, but he was blind to see who was right in front of him this entire time.

"I swear on my life, I will help you get out of this. There has to be something out there that can help. The person who built this might know something. There are scratches on the wall that might suggest they were a werewolf too. We can track him down."

"Yeah, okay," he nodded, screaming out in pain when his spine began to shift into a wolf's. His skin contorted to fit the changing bones, and they popped out to make themselves known. The werewolf curse was the worst one there was, and you were so sad to see Sam go through with this.

The process sped up, and his legs started shifting as hair started growing. He yanked on the chains, and you took a step back carefully.

"GO!" he yelled, his eyes flashing a golden yellow to signal his transformation. A tear rolled down your cheek as you left the cage, locking it behind you with a deadbolt. Sam roared as he broke free of one of his chains, and if you didn't get out of there soon, you might die. Running out of the basement, you slammed shut the steel door before locking it. Growling and roaring could be heard from inside, and the rattle of the chain-link cage was the most prominent.

Sam was trying to escape, and if he succeeded, the only thing separating him from you was only a door. Sliding your back down the door, you sat on the ground with your knees to your chest. Tears fell freely in pain for your friend. Every month was like this, and there was nothing you could do about it.

Sam growled from the other side of the door, but then it stopped as did everything else. A part of you figured he was only pretending to be silent to get you to open the door, but a wolf wouldn't do that. The only thing that could be heard was the sound of your heartbeat.

"Sam? You called, waiting to hear the sound of his voice.

"Y/N?" he whimpered. You wouldn't have heard it if it wasn't so silent. Scrambling to get up, you threw open the door and saw a human figure in a ball inside the broken cage.

"Sam!" you exclaimed, running over to him and getting on your knees to comfort him. Reaching into the backpack you carried, you took out the blanket and pulled it over his shaking body. It's over. "You're safe now."

"We have to find this owner. I can't go through this anymore," he sighed, curling his body into yours.

"I know. I know," you whispered, holding him close.
