"Okay, come back tomorrow and I'll remove the second skin and replace it with a new one. Then, a week later, I'll take it off and your tattoo will be good to go," you grinned as you took off your black gloves.
"Thank you so much! It's so beautiful!" the eighteen-year-old woman said with a squeal.
"You mind if I take a picture of it? It's for my portfolio."
"Yeah, go right ahead," she nodded. Taking out your phone, you snapped a few pictures of the big dream catcher going down he thigh. It was a long process, almost 9 hours, but you were glad when it was done. This was one of your best works, and you couldn't wait to show it off.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow," you finished up, walking her to the door.
"Seriously, you did such an amazing job!"
"Thank you," you blushed, closing the door after she left. Being a tattoo artist meant everything to you. Growing up, you would draw on any surface available whether that was paper or the walls. If you had a crayon, marker, pencil, or sharpie, you would be drawing. Your parents thought you just loved to scribble, but as you got older, those scribbles turned into pictures that had depth and meaning. Before they knew it, you were drawing their portraits.
Your artistic skill wouldn't go unnoticed, so they had you go for college on an art scholarship. All throughout college, you would be drawing in any form that was presentable to you. The school offered you money to paint the mural that currently resides on one of the buildings, you would offer to draw for pep rallies, home and away games, always ask for extra credit projects in your arts classes, anything that would get you to draw.
People started recognizing your art, and more than most asked if they could use these designs to have on their bodies. At first, you were bashful in letting people use your designs on their body. Tattoos were permanent, and if they hated it down the line then you would be responsible for coming up with the idea in the first place.
However, when more and more people started asking, it put the thought into your mind about becoming a tattoo artist. Soon after, people weren't asking you about your designs more so if you could draw what they wanted. With their vision and your artistic skills, they were able to get the tattoo of their dreams. Each person who asked loved theirs, and that is when you officially decided you wanted to be a tattoo artist.
To get in some practice, you started tattooing yourself, mostly on your legs. They were small ones that held a lot of meaning because if they were bad, at least they would mean a lot to you. One of the first ones you did was the symbol for Alex Calvert's band. While he is the lead singer, he is also the lead guitarist. The songs he and his band wrote spoke to you on such a deeper level than most things. The lyrics spoke to you, the music pumped through your veins. Tattooing his symbol meant the world to you.
Like every other fan, you only admired him from afar, watched every interview with him in it, and learned as much as you could without being considered a stalker. It is your dream to one day meet him, and maybe that might happen. Stranger things have happened for less.
You were lucky enough to go to one of his concerts with pit seats. Seeing him so up close was like a dream come true. The cameras did no justice in capturing the true blueness of his eyes. Maybe it was just you, but while you were at his concert, you two seemed to have made eye contact. It was only for the briefest of seconds, but it was there.
