They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and in most cases, that proves to be true. Sometimes, when you stay home from a hunt and the brothers are out, you miss them so much that you actually find it in your heart to love them even more. When they get home, you jump in their arms and kiss their faces because you're glad that they're home. You spend all night in Sam's bed, showing him just how much you missed him.

It's times like those that you love, but you hate the waiting part. You hate the not knowing part. You hate the dread you get when you miss a phone call or when they don't call at all. There's always a reasonable explanation for it all, but it still doesn't make you feel better.

Not until you're back in his arms, and he's back in yours.

I see the questions in your eyesI know what's weighing on your mindYou can be sure I know my heart'Cause I'll stand beside you through the yearsYou'll only cry those happy tearsAnd though I make mistakesI'll never break your heart

"Do you really have to go?" you whimpered, hanging onto his hand tightly as if that would make him change his mind and stay.

"You could come with. You seem to be feeling better," Sam suggested. It was taking everything in you to not blurt out the secret you've been hiding from him for weeks now. Saying it would change everything, and his whole life would be turned upside down. He would want to stop hunting to be by your side, and when the little bundle of joy came into the world, then he would stop hunting forever.

The world needed people like him, which is why you kept your mouth shut.

"I'm still throwing up. I can't go," you sighed. Yes, you were throwing up, but it wasn't because you were sick. Sam and Dean were supposed to be gone for about three weeks since this hunt was on the other side of the country, and it's was one of the toughest monsters they've faced, so it required more time on their part.

"I promise to call every single night. I know that look, and this time, I promise I will. I won't let you down, Y/N. We have to go now, but I'll be back before you know it," he promised, giving you a lasting kiss on your lips. With a sigh, you watched as the older brother pulled out of the garage with the father of your unborn child in the passenger seat.

I'll give you every thing I canI'll build your dreams with these two handsWe'll hang some memories on the wallsAnd when just the two of us are thereYou won't have to ask if I still care'Cause as the time turns the page, my love won't age at all

It's finally here; the moment you've been waiting for three weeks. Sam was finally coming home, and this time, it's going to be him that has the surprise. As much as you wanted to hide the bump you knew you were showing off, you realized you wanted him to find out. It's been twelve weeks since you got pregnant, and you couldn't wait to tell him. If all this time apart has taught you anything, it's how much you knew he would love this news.

The bunker door opened, but you stayed right where you are despite your body wanting to run to him.

"Y/N?" he called out when you didn't greet him like you usually did.

"In here," you called out, still firmly planted on the ground. You made sure to wear your revealing outfit so he wouldn't doubt that you were pregnant. He and his older brother walked into the room, and both of their eyes immediately went to the hump on your stomach. They dropped their bags to the ground, and Sam walked slowly over to you.

"Are you...? Are we...?" he couldn't seem to finish his questions.

"Yes, and yes," you grinned. He scooped you up happily and spun you around before planting you on the ground once more.

"Congratulations, Y/N," Dean smiled, leaning down and kissing your cheek. He left the room to give you and Sam some privacy.

"How...?"

"I'm pretty sure you know how," you chuckled. "When I was throwing up, it was morning sickness. I didn't know how to tell you before. I'm sorry I waited all this time, but I was scared. I don't want you to stop hunting just because of me."

"I can't even think about hunting right now when all I can think about is what we're going to paint their room."

"What?" you giggled, looking into his eyes.

"I will transform this Bunker into the home you've always wanted. I'll paint the walls whatever color you want, and we'll buy everything we can that ensures our child will be comfortable. I will build whatever you need, and we can start taking pictures and hanging them on the walls. We can make this place look like a real home. I'll do anything you want; all for you."

"Sam," you whispered, wrapping your arms around his neck and hugging him tightly.

"I won't let you down," he whispered. You didn't know if he was talking to you or the baby, but you knew he wouldn't.

"We know," you whispered back.

And I swear by the moon and the stars in the skyI'll be thereI swear like a shadow that's by your sideI'll be thereFor better or worse, till death do us partI'll love you with every beat of my heartAnd I swear

"You're taking me to Disney World?" you asked with a grin. He made you come on this hunt with him and Dean. He assured you that you didn't have to do any hunting, but he didn't tell you why he was making you come with them. It's been three months since he found out you were pregnant, and he's been the perfect father-to-be. He made sure you got whatever you wanted and needed, and he made sure the baby heard their father's voice every single night.

You both decided not to know the gender of the baby since you thought you would enjoy the surprise. The only person who knew was Dean since he stated that it would drive him crazy not knowing. He promised to keep his mouth shut, and so far, he's been doing a good job of that.

"Yeah. We are doing a hunt near here, and I thought it would be good to take you here," Sam smiled as you two walked into the park. There were screaming kids everywhere, which only reminded you that you would have one of your own soon.

"Is the hunt over with?"

"Dean is taking care of it as we speak. He gave us the evening to come here."

"I can't really ride most of these rides. I'm afraid you wasted your money."

"We're not going on the rides. Well, not the ones you can't go on," he grinned.

"Samuel, what do you have planned?"

"You'll see," he chuckled, leading you through the park. All day, you two went on the rides that you were able to go on like It's A Small World After All and relaxing rides like those kinds. It's only until the end of the day when he really let you in on why he took you there. As soon as it hit midnight, the park let off a stream of fireworks. The colors burst in different shapes and sizes all around you. Purple, blue, red, orange, yellow, and so many other colors exploded into the air, creating the perfect atmosphere for the two of you.

Sam looked down at you with such love and admiration, already planning the next steps in his head. He made a promise to himself that he was always going to be there for you no matter what. No matter if it's through the bad times or the good times, through sickness or in health, or any other kind of situation. He was always going to make sure that you were well taken care of–you and his child.

This was the moment that he made a promise to himself that he was going to marry you sooner rather than later.
