-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Making sure every single light was on in your room, you finally crawled into bed. There wasn't a nook or cranny that wasn't touched by light. Thankful for the invention of the light bulb, you could now sleep in your bed knowing that nothing would be able to get you. Ever since you were a kid, you've always had a fear of the dark. Whether that be of the darkness itself or what could be lurking in the dark. The light was the only thing that made you feel safe because you could see everything and anything.

Many people had made fun of you for still having a night light even as an adult. They never experienced the nightmares you did when you were alone in the dark or the fears that crept up in the back of your mind because you knew there was a monster waiting for you as soon as you closed your eyes. When you became a hunter, this all intensified, and you always brought along night lights whenever you had to stay in motels.

Even at the Bunker, you had to keep the hallway light on as well as every light inside of your room. Sam and Dean only had one lamp that they used as a source of light, but you had five. They understood your fear of the dark so they never questioned you when it came time to sleep. They never roomed with you because they couldn't sleep with the light on, so whenever you three would go away, you would have a whole room by yourself. It sucked, but you requested to be right next to one of their rooms in case they heard you screaming and needed to come over.

Every motel you stayed at, you made sure that there was a door connecting your room to the one next door. You always kept your side unlocked so that if Sam or Dean were up, they could come into your room and comfort you if you were having a nightmare. As long as the lights stayed on, you wouldn't have a problem. It's when they turned off, your mind started going into hyperdrive.

Snuggling in your bed, you had finally picked a comfortable position before the worst possible thing that could happen, happened. All the lights went out in your room, and since your curtains were open, you could see the lights in the other room go off at the same time yours did which made you think there was a power outage in the middle of the fucking night. As soon as you were in pitch black darkness, your mind started creating shapes and shadows on the wall for you to fear over.

"Dean!!!" you yelled as you banged on the wall behind you. Almost immediately, he walked into your room and over to your bed. He knew why you were calling him, and so he crawled into your bed to comfort you.

"It's okay, I'm here," he whispered as you nuzzled into his side.

"I'm scared," you whispered, your eyes wide with fear. With being so close to him, you could see the bright green color in his eyes, and you assumed he could see the fear in yours.

"I know you are. Sam was reading with the light on when it went out. Power outage?"

"I assume so."

"I can stay with you until you fall asleep."

"No, stay with me for the night, please. I don't want to be alone," you sighed shakily. Every time you went into this mood, Dean was there to help you out of it. He was your knight in shining armor. He was the man you could go to for anything and everything. He wouldn't ever judge you.

"Okay, I will," he said. Placing your head on his chest, you knew that nothing could get you in the dark, as long as Dean was here by your side to fend off whatever monsters were going to get you. After a few moments of silence, you could feel yourself drift to sleep when Dean shifted in his spot and pushed you to your side of the bed.

"What are you–Dean!" you gasped when he grabbed your throat tightly. The green eyes you fell in love with were quickly replaced with black, and you cried out as you clawed at his hands.

"You really should be careful who you let into your bed, Y/N. Not all monsters are ugly. Some of them can be beautiful and inviting," he sneered as he gripped your throat tightly.

"Dean! You're hurting me!" you tried to get out. The tighter his hold on you, the less oxygen was getting to your brain. Your heart pounded fast, and you knew a panic attack was going to come if he didn't let you go.

"That's the point, isn't it? I'm not always going to be there to make you feel better. I won't always be the nice guy you let yourself believe me to be. I need you to wake up and smell the flowers. They're dead. Like me. Go ahead. WAKE UP!"

"Wake up! Y/N, wake up!" Sam shook you awake. Your eyes flew open and you sat up so quickly your head started to get a bit dizzy. Your entire body was drenched in sweat as well as your sheets. Your breathing was heavy since that nightmare felt so real. Looking around the lit motel room, you realized it was day time already. Sam was sitting on your bed with a look of concern, and you threw yourself into his arms as you cried.

2 weeks ago, Dean had died. He turned into a knight of hell and left the Bunker, left your life. For two weeks, you and Sam had been trying to find him. For 2 weeks, you've had nothing but nightmares of him. Sam smoothed down your hair comfortingly as you wet his pajama shirt with your tears.

"I want him back, Sam," you sniffled and hiccupped.

"I know. We're going to get him back," Sam promised you. "We'll get him back."
