Nothing seemed to work.

The only thing that kind of did the trick was working out, and since you couldn't afford for your own gym at home, you had a membership to the closest one which was within walking distance. Every night, it didn't matter if it was midnight, 2 am, or 5 am, you would be at the gym to tire out your muscles.

Instead of watching TV all night, you thought spending your time doing something healthy was a better alternative. Plus, it didn't help that the fitness instructor that you totally had a crush on worked whenever you came in.

From what you overheard, his name was Castiel and his family owned the small gym you went to. He didn't want it known that he could live off the income it made, but he enjoyed being a fitness instructor. He found pleasure in helping others reach their health goals. It made him feel good knowing that other people felt comfortable with their bodies and the way they looked.

He's noticed you come into the gym from time to time, but he never made verbal contact. Whenever you came in, he was always with his nightly client who thought working out in the middle of the night was best. Castiel never minded the time of day as long as he was helping somebody.

However, you were different to him. From what he could tell, you looked to be in great shape, so he assumed you weren't working out to get healthier or anything of the sorts. He couldn't think of any other reason why you would be coming in so early. Maybe your home life wasn't that great. Maybe you had a night job that ended at 3 am. Or maybe you were a gym fanatic.

He'd be lying if he said he wasn't curious. He thought you were beautiful and wanted to talk to you, but when he was done with his client, you would already be gone or in the shower. He didn't want to waste your time if you were getting ready to leave, so he had to find the right time to introduce himself.

This night was like every other night. He was working with his client, making sure he was doing what needed to be done when you walked in. You never failed to take his breath away. Especially with no makeup, all raw features and pure beauty.

This night had been one of your worst ones. During the day you had tried to get in a few hours of sleep and only managed one. Your body begged for the sweet mercy of sleep, but your mind didn't want to cooperate. It was like it was wide awake, and it had no intention of coming down.

Maybe a couple of hours of working out might get your mind tired enough for you to snag a few more hours of sleep. The very first thing you did was head over to the mats where you stretched for 10 minutes to loosen your muscles.

As you passed by Castiel, you made direct eye contact, but you quickly looked away. He was probably the most attractive man you have ever seen, but he couldn't possibly be interested in you. How could someone with insomnia be attractive? Bags stretched under your eyes making you look like a raccoon in broad daylight. It wasn't pretty at all.

Getting set up, you did your normal routine stretches before heading over to the treadmill. It was best to get that heart rate up before you worked in your leg and arm muscles. Setting the timer, you began running, focusing your attention on the muted TV. If you had brought your headphones, then maybe you could listen to what they were saying, but watching it was enough.

Castiel made sure to keep an eye on you as he helped his client. He didn't even know your name and you had an effect on him most people didn't. Deciding to clear his head, he moved his client to a new station when his phone rang. Something about an emergency caused his client to leave early, giving him some time before he got to go home.

By that time, you were finished with your treadmill and moved onto boxing which was your favorite thing to do. Castiel couldn't see a more perfect opportunity to go and talk to you, so he made his way over to you.

"You should really wear bandages around your knuckles," he said, catching your attention. "I can't tell you how many times people have busted them while doing this."

"I have some, but I hit better without them on. Wouldn't be the first time I've spilled blood in a gym," you chuckled. Your voice was like music to his ears, and he found himself never wanting to listen to another tune again.

"I'm Castiel. I'm the night fitness instructor."

"Y/N," you smiled shyly, hitting the bag a few more times.

"Left jab," he stated, watching your technique. Knowing exactly what he wanted you to do, you didn't waste any more time in showing what a left jab was.

"I've seen you come in before. Usually, people who work out at night work overnight or need to get away," Castiel nodded, impressed with your technique.

"Neither for me. I have terrible insomnia. Notice the bags?" you said, pointing to your eyes.

"And you think coming here will help you fall asleep?"

"Usually does. My muscles are so tired that I pass out. For a few hours at least," you explained, hitting the bag once more.

"Right cross."

"Come on, give me something easy," you laughed after you did what he said.

"Listen, I have some tips that might help you sleep better. I may just look like a fitness instructor, but I do know a thing or two about a good night's sleep."

"No offense, Castiel, but I've tried everything there is. A good night's sleep isn't just something I can reach," you took a break, gulping down some water.

"I'll take that challenge," he smiled. "Come back to me in a week and tell me how these work for you." He left your side to gather the information needed in order for you to have a "good night's sleep". When he returned, you looked at the brochure for a vitamin you've never heard of.

"I'll think about it," you chuckled, putting it in your duffel bag. With Castiel's help, you might be able to finally get the sleep that you deserve.
