You didn't know why but your dreams have only begun to reflect your life, to the point where you'd wake up at night with a small yelp, waking Zeke up with you.
It would all be fine, if the one person causing your issues wouldn't constantly turn up in your fantasies to curse your life, your daydreams- the ones that were meant to be filled with Zeke and your beautiful pet bunnies- not your stupid boss!
All you could ever do was fiddle with anything nearby, your shirt, biting your nails, tapping your feet- all in anxiety, your stomach twisting anytime you think of his face. He was scary, he was mean, he constantly belittled you in front of everyone. It was terrifying. But you need this job.
You had gotten so used to these nightmares of him, that you didn't make a sound when you woke up this time. All you could do was cry silently, the tears slipping out without a noise. At this point you'd rather your boss a dead man. Wishing that he'd just get run over on his way to work- that his wife would poison him!- anything!
You bit your lip to contain your sobbing, hating your life.. and job mostly.
Due to the suspicion that Zeke had woken up by the sheets rustling slightly, you paused your muted crying session, your iris wondering to the corner of your eye even though he was behind you.
Suddenly, a warm hand slid up your waist, using little strength to turn you onto your back, you were met with Zeke, whom seemed as if he hadn't be asleep either. "Crying without me, huh?"
"No- I'm not, I-" you calmed your voice down, realising how defensive you sounded. "Sorry if I woke you up..." you took a second to think over his words, 'crying without me?' You smiled slightly, what a weird dork.
He groaned gently, "I don't give two shits if I was asleep or not, you're important to me, don't you think so?" He stared blankly at you, your gaze wavering at him, you couldn't maintain the stare, not with how embarrassed you were that he caught you crying.
Just as you were about to answer back, Zeke had leaned forward to pepper your cheek with kisses, tickling you with his beard. You giggled softly, weakly grasping at his shoulders. "Quit that..."
"Not until you tell me what's going on." He pecked your cheek one last time before sitting closer to you, taking your smaller hand into his.
"It's my stupid boss... he keeps..." you sniffled, "That stupid bum face keeps picking on me, he never does it to the other workers- it's always me." Your voice slightly croaked as you wept, "He embarrassed me in front of everyone- I- I try so hard but he..."
Without another word, Zeke pulled you into his arms, rubbing your back as you tried your hardest to keep your crying low. Meanwhile, Zeke was thinking back, trying to recall the person you were talking about.
At last, it hit him. "No way..! is he that one that looks like obese Lord Farquaad?"
You couldn't help but scoff against him. "He kinda does..." you laughed, wiping your eyes, "that stupid peasant thinks he's on the same level to insult such a beautiful princess as yourself huh?" He gritted his teeth, "Zeke." You giggled, finding his tone of voice funny.
"What a peasant. I say you report him and quit."
"Hey, but I need this job..." you held his arms slightly, looking up at him with pure guilt and disappointment.
"There are plenty more spaces near us sweetheart, my friend works there, I'll have him look into it."
"Zeke... really!?"
"Really... you cute little rat..." he pinched your cheek, grinning from ear to ear, he stared at you as if you were a joyous puppy.
You couldn't help all the overwhelming joy, so instead of thanking him, you tackled him on the bed, attacking his face with kisses and mumbling words of gratitude. "I love you I love you I love you!" You squealed out, hearing him laugh gently under you.
"I love you too,"
