I walk in through the front door with grocery bags in my hands and new clothes. I was out shopping for my aunt and Miyah for a good hour. And now it's dark out.
I drop the clothing bags by the stairs, deciding on taking it up later and walk into the kitchen.
My lips pull upwards into a wide smile, seeing Ace with Miyah in his arms asking her what she wants on her sandwich.
"Sprinkles." Miyah says.
"You can't have that on your sandwich you weirdo." He says, shaking his head at her.
They haven't noticed me yet so I put the bags to the side and quietly sit on the barstool, watching them with amusement.
"Candy floss?" She says, tilting her head.
"That's disgusting." He grimaces, opening the fridge.
"You disgusting." She glares at him and I smile at her mispronunciation of her words.
"You hurt my feelings." He says, wiping a fake tear from his eye.
"Boohoo." She giggles as he rolls his eyes, smiling at her.
He suddenly flips her upside down, gripping her ankles and shaking her side to side slightly as she laughs loudly, "Say you're sorry for being mean." He says.
"No." She laughs adorably then gasps when she sees me, "Rivy!" She grins widely.
"Having fun there?" I say, tilting my head to meet her gaze.
"Ace won't put sprinkles on my sandwich." She frowns as Ace turns her upright.
"What a loser." I gape at him in disbelief.
"Sprinkles." She demands, glaring at him as she points to the sandwich that is on a plate.
"Don't come crying to me when it taste like sh-"
"Language." I warn, raising an eyebrow at him.
"You can't say much." He scoffs, putting sprinkles on her sandwich.
"Shut up."
He puts Miyah on the floor and gives her the plate, "Thanks." She says, grinning up at him.
"No problem, princess." He says, smiling down at her with his dimples.
I get off the barstool and walk over to him, wrapping my arms around his waist as he kisses my forehead. We both watch as Miyah takes a bite out of her sandwich, chewing it slowly. We exchange knowing looks when she starts grimacing.
"Tastes like doodoo." She whines, pushing the plate away so I take it, shaking my head and throwing it in the bin.
"I did tell you." Ace sighs.
Miyah punches his leg and glares up at him, "Fight me loser." She says, putting her fists in front of her face.
I think Ace is the only person Miyah has warmed up to so quickly. It took her a while to warm up to other people so she must be comfortable with him. And I'm happy that she is.
