Chapter 385

Meanwhile, at the Casey Home:
Matt's POV: As I stand in the kitchen shortly after waking up with Sofia, I smile as I stand at the counter while making her a bottle. Bouncing her, I smiled as I went to put my hand on her back and just smiled as I went to kiss her forehead softly. "Yeah, you like cuddling up to daddy in the morning while he makes you a bottle don't you princess?" Going to kiss her forehead, I smiled because I was very happy to be cuddling up to her. Going to grab the bottle, I went to head it up. "Yeah, daddy's making you some breakfast are't you? Some delicious milk." That's when I heard Christie come upstairs. "I swear, you have the most adorable baby talk" Turning around, I smiled. "Morning bed head." Christie just glared at me when I said that. "Shut up!"

I smiled at her. "Wow, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Christie just shook her head. "I can't have my morning coffee, so shut the hell up." I sighed and agreed with her when she told me that, understanding that she was sad about that. That's when I heard the timer go off for Sofia's bottle. "Yeah, I'm just warning you that I'm not giving up on coffee just because you can't drink it. I am going to drink my morning coffee." Going to put Sofia's bottle in the hand I was using to hold her, I just smiled as I went to go grab my coffee that I had at the Keurig. "Yeah, I already expected that...especially on the days you have shift." I agreed with her when she told me that and just smiled as I came to sit at the table with her. "How are you feeling sis?"

Christie sighed when I asked her that. "Emotionally drained. I am just exhausted." I nodded and agreed with her when she told me that, feeling really bad that was the case. I then proceeded to just go sit down and then went to set Sofia down in my lap. Cuddling up to her, I smiled as I went to go give her a bottle. "Yeah, baby girl wants her milk this morning doesn't she?" Sofia then went to go grab her bottle and just went to drink it. "So, listen...I need to talk to you about something." Christie agreed with me when I said that. "What's up?" I then sighed. "Listen, I don't want to pressure into this but...I work tomorrow." Christie understood what I was going to say. "Christie, I am not going to force you to do anything. If you're not up for it...we can take them..."

Christie shook her head when I said that. "Hey, I can watch your kids. I am living here, I can watch your kids." I took a breath and just agreed with her when she told me that. "I'm glad. I'm hoping that these little ones here can bring a bit of happiness to you during your battle." Christie smiled and agreed with me when I said that. "Yeah, that's definitely going to happen considering how adorable your girls are. God, Sofia looks so much like Gabby." I nodded and agreed with her when she told me that before going to kiss her forehead softly. "And that's why she has the Hispanic name." Christie agreed with me when I said that and just smiled. "So, what are you going to do today?" I sighed when she asked me that. "I have to do paperwork."

Christie agreed with me when I told her that and then went to put her hand on mine. "I'm sure that Gabby understands." I nodded and agreed with her when she told me that. "Yeah, she does." That's when I heard Gabby come downstairs with Hannah. "I understand what?" I sighed when Gabby asked me that. "I have to work today. Well, in my office. I have paperwork to do." Gabby agreed with me when I told her that. "That's fine baby. Anyways, I am going to give Christie a treat....maybe I can do her nails or something. Sorry but, I might steal your sister to give me some gossip time." Christie laughed and agreed with Gabby when she told that. "Honestly, that sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe we can talk about your job." Gabby sighed.

"Yeah, I'd rather not talk about it." Going to walk over to the fridge, Gabby grabbed a bottle for Hannah. However, I got concerned. "Hey...is everything okay Gabby? Something bothering you at work?" Gabby shook her head. "I would just rather not have to think about how much I have to run around during COVID. I am going to be exhausted in the next couple days. Heck, I think we should just put an order in for groceries Matt...I want to rest today with your sister." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that. "You hungry?" Gabby smiled and agreed. "How about you give Sofia to your sister and she can feed her? Meanwhile, you can make us some breakfast." I agreed and smiled. "Pancakes?" Christie agreed. "That sounds perfect. But where are your boys?"

I then thought about that and just agreed with her. "Yeah, that's a good question." That's when I heard Andy come into the kitchen with some toys. "Dada, play." I smiled when he said that and then went to walk over to him, loving how he can walk so easily now. Bending down, I went to pick him up and just smiled because I was really happy right now. Going to wrap my arms around him, I looked at Andy. "Hey little guy, what's this?" Andy then went to show me that he found a ball. "Last time I checked, we don't play with soccer balls in the house." Bending down, I went to kiss his neck and just smiled. That's when Gabby smiled at me. "God, you are so adorable with the boys." I smiled and agreed with Gabby when she told me that.

Looking at Andy, I smiled and agreed with her before going to kiss Andy's forehead softly. "You comfortable in daddy's arms little guy?" Andy nodded when I asked him that and then came to cuddle up to me. And honestly, I just loved it. Going to kiss the top of my head, I smiled. "God, you keep cuddling up to me like this...you are going to make it impossible to work." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told him that. "Maybe you shouldn't work for a while. Matt, you don't have to go on every call. You can just stay at the firehouse and trust Severide and Jake." I agreed with her when she said that and smiled, knowing that was the truth. "Right, of course." Gabby just smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. 

"Listen, I have to make breakfast buddy. How about you do daddy a favor and go give your auntie C a nice morning hug? I am sure that she will really appreciate that." Andy agreed with me when I said that and nodded. Going to kiss his forehead, I smiled as I went to go set him down. He then went to run over to Christie and smiled. That's when I went to grab Sofia's bottle from the counter and smiled as I went to walk over to Christie. "Here, I can finally give you my lil' Sofia so you can feed her. Then, I can concentrate on breakfast." Christie smiled and agreed with me when I said that. Looking at Gabby, I smiled because she looked great. "You need water?" Gabby shook her head. "Just a bottle for Hannah." I looked at her. "Oh, you didn't breastfeed her?"

Gabby shook her head when I asked her that. "I think it's best I feed her with the bottle. As much as I liked it...I don't want them to get attached to me again." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she told me that, understanding where she was coming from. Going to grab the bottle, I walked over to her and then smiled as I gave it to her. Going to grab it, she just smiled at me. Meanwhile, I bent down and went to kiss her softly. "I love you." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. "I love you too." Going to walk back over to the kitchen, I smiled as I went to go back to making breakfast for us all. However, before I could do that...I got a call from Boden. "Gabby, I'm sorry...I have to take this." Gabby then looked at me. "Who is it?"

I sighed. "Boden." Gabby nodded and agreed with me. "Go ahead. Just turn the burner off." I agreed with her when she told me that, going to turn off the burner just like she asked me to. Once that was done, I went to walk away so that I could talk to Boden...and throw a huge curveball into our plans for the next week.
